Pre market frozen over night they implemented the "down 5% rule." Hasn't ben enacted since the 2008 crisis.:spending:

This. Whether you have cash to buy more or are simply investing one dollar/paycheck at a time, it will generally work out to the same result.

Yeah however moving 100,000 or so from "fixed income" or cash gets you there much quicker. Problem now becomes finding the bottom of the market, in a year when all is forgotten we'll be flirting with record highs again.

Don't worry about getting the best price, just get a good price that works for you. This is the same whether buying stocks or buying a new 4R. Don't buy at the top of the market and don't pay over invoice for a new Pro. Don't be the sucker.

Agreed right now we're at an ok price - can it go lower probably. Been playing this game for 30 years in my 401 and accumulated a few dollars doing so... If there's one thing I've learned about in that time it's having patience. I've moved money and had the market go lower and also sold and had it continue upward... Whatever, when I'm happy with a move at a point in time I make it nobody has a crystal ball.

You cant time the market and win in the long run. Even so called experts cant beat the market in the long run. 20 years plus. That why buying low cost index funds or ETFs is the simple way to do it.
