    Hey there everyone,

Sorry in advance for the Newbie post, I just bought a Second Gen as a daily and am completely new to Toyota Forums. I recently bought a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks for my 95 4Runner and while they were advertised to fit both First and Second gen 4Runners, I quickly found out that the rear shocks have eyelets for bushing on the top and bottom of the shock, whereas to fit they have to have a stud up top that goes thru the frame and gets tightened down. I did some reading and saw here that 1st gen Tundra 5100 rears will fit 2nd gen 4runners as long as you press a different bushing into the bottom of the shock. I was wondering if anyone could possibly tell me what size bushing I need, or even give me a link to where I could buy the correct size. I saw people saying that you needed a 3/4" poly bushing but I don't know if that's the measurement for ID, OD, or something completely different that I'm not understanding. Sorry again if this has been posted before, I just couldn't seem to find in-depth enough to make an informed purchase.

I ran across the same thing... I popped out the old rubber and went to auto zone and got rubber in the suspension bushings and popped them in

Do you happen to have the part number for the Bilsteins you used? Also are you running a lift currently and if you are how much? I plan to lift my truck 3" with a 1" diff drop and panhard bracket/adjustable panhard bar like yours, but really want to have 5100's fitted into the rear also  Any information helps! (I also checked for the 1st gens rear shocks but found no lift)

Awesome! Thank you for the information!

How have they worked out for you on and off-road? Do they bottom/top out at any point? or do they work really well with the 3" lift?
Might just order these today to get started on the lift!

Also what springs did you use by chance? Apologies for the list of questions but there is not much info on 3" lifts for these trucks and all the info I can get helps!

Honestly these are the best shocks I have ever experienced... firm yet smooth on and off road.
I went with 3 inch lift ARB springs in the rear. I had a 4 inch rough country... but it had way too much body roll for my liking

I was thinking of going with the rough country lift kit and I am kind of glad that I did not if I didn't need to. I think 3" should be the sweet spot. I would only consider the 4" lift if I had 4.88 gearing to handle 35's but I am on 4.56 gearing :notsure: Should handle 33's just fine.

I had a question regarding the ball joint spacers you're working with and the size you chose to use? I read on many forums that a 1.5" BJ spacer and 80 series coils would give you about 3" lift (2.5" in the front). Did you go with the 1.5" BJ spacer or a 2" ? I'm assuming you did a diff drop also?

I can't seem to find some ARB coil springs for a 3" lift, do you think you could share the link of the one you run on your rig or a part number by chance? I rather get new even coils instead of uneven springs from the LC.

Knowing those two should wrap up my search and could get to buying and installing! :muscleflexing: (drop bracket is on its way) Thank you!!!! :headbang:
