Reading a bunch of threads, I see strong recommendations for the
Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Hitch Rack. However, I am wondering if it's a strong candidate for off-roading or if there are better models to consider, specifically when taking on a steep uphill portion (excluding rock crawling) where you don't want the bike rack to scrape on the ground. Anyone have any suggestions here?

1up is likely the last rack you’ll ever buy…. It’s bomb-proof, and I like that no part of the rack touches the frame. Probably similar clearance to other dual bike carriers though. When folded up, I can see the rack in the rear view camera, but it doesn’t completely block it.

I ended up with the 1up Heavy duty two bike in black. If it and my 4R ever come in I’ll post up some pics! The new Kuat Piston Pro X looks really nice too but it’s around $1400 and Not sure when it hits the streets.

Another vote for the 1up. That said, look at the websites or the racks if you can find them. To me, it looks like the long tongue of the Kuat Sherpa would hit before the 1up rack. I went with the 2" Super Duty Double. Absolutely stable.
