Happy to give credit where it's due.

On one hand we're fortunate, some really unique stuff down here in this part of the world. But cruising America is so different from here...here you gotta watch your backside and everywhere else all the time. I'd be happy to live without that.

I'll see if I can post. Can I post pics being that I have a "new member" status? And where would I share some off-topic ones (lions, ellies, giraffe, and more) from our two-track and gravel adventures in Kruger Park? Make a new post?

    Cheers!

I don't have one either nor instagram...
Worse than high school shit. Reminds me of the fake ass neighborhood kids that wanted to be friends but when they did become ur friends they fronted and pretended they liked what you had...
Who cares what people say about your build, at the end of the day it's whatever makes you happy..

I have a story to tell so badly but imma keep it right now to myself.
All I got to say is this forum is for knowledge and experience as everything else in life..
Have fun with it and don't take anything serious...
I love your build if that's worth anything...

I would recommend a classic, " Deer Hunter" or " A Bronx Tale" or "Sleepers"

Recovery is a Bitch, you will be back out there in no time

As it turns out, I'm going to have to acquire the whole Dobinson kit down here - about $350 more. Since couldn't haul the shocks in luggage I thought I'd just get the springs shipped and buy the shocks here. But with bad weather in US and the shipping companies saying they expect delays..couldn't take the risk that springs wouldn't arrive in time for my friend's flight - arghh. Gonna have to wait a while longer to get it all together.

Anyone have thoughts on how those teal springs with yellow shocks are going to look on my burgundy Surf/4 Runner, I'm really not sure how much they will show.

Will see what I can do to get some other pics up in the next day or two...truck and otherwise. Thanks again.

PS. This is a pic of when I first bought the Surf three years ago. There is currently a spare tire on the rear mount.

Nice ride! I wish the 5th gen came with a spare tire carrier like that!

Curious what you guys think. Wheels or sliders first? Kind of wavering a bit. I’m going with the Black Rhino Overlands and C4 sliders with “Trail” stamped plates matte black. Wheels will ship quick. Sliders not so much they’re estimated at 8 week production. Don’t want to go without running boards or sliders bc people are brutal with their car doors here. Not off-roading any time soon. Hate the silver running boards. Trying to sell them but no luck so far.

Top pic is current with Ridge Grappler. Bottom is Terra Grappler G2.

Hey Mike, Just take it slow man. Trust me i been there, ask your doc. About the possibility of blood clots forming from the break. I busted my ankle out at Glamis riding quads, formed a clot that went to my lungs and almost killed me. They never even mentioned that it was a possibility, anywho best of luck to you.

I'm not voting (not wheels) on this here because this is @Backslider 's build thread and I'm only here to learn about his build.

Start one. I started one and I’ve done the equivalent of jack compared to other builds.

About 16.5 mpg if it's all highway. Mixed driving brings me down to the low 15s.

Ok. I’m doing ~17.2 with a mix right now. I’m sure the sliders will have some slight impact as well since add 120-130lbs.

Yeah - you might get a very small ding from the sliders. Roof racks and heavier tires that grip the earth a little better hurt mpg alot too. =\

Yeah, love the Ridge Grapplers but they’re definitely dropping the MPGs.

Ordered the RidgeRunner hitch tire carrier from Detours of Maine. I looked at a large number of options but landed here based on how close the tire rides to the vehicle, how high the tire sits compared to other options, and in large part because I don't think I want the weight of a full steel bumper. This is 37lbs and I can still mount a jack and rotopax on it.

It's about half the cost, and in my opinion a much better thought out solution than Rigd or Willco.
