Looking into new tires for mainly highway use. Looks like the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 gets the highest marks but just wanted to hear from anyone on the TerrainContact H/T. Both are good in all categories but specifically I'd like to know if they are quiet. I'm on the OEM Dunlop Grandtrek AT20s right now and although they get terrible reviews, I think they are good tires and quiet...its just that the tread life sucks. Thanks.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 36 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 36yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
The new Bridgestone Ascents here, still quiet after 1K miles AND actually 2# LIGHTER than OEM Dunlops.

Yep. Next up, I'll be starting an oil thread. That should make your day.

It's never ending. It's like there's no search function.

Or...you could just roll your eyes at my post and keep scrolling. Searching didn't find me the answer to my specific question.

Didn't think my post was that much of a panty-buncher. I guess you never know.

The reviews on the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent are good. Seems like a good choice for quiet tires and looks decent also.

Yeah, I get it. I try not to start a thread on topics that have been beat to death, but I am specifically looking for someone who is on these exact tires. Wasn't a general tire thread looking for suggestions.

For my next trick, I'll start a thread on how can I improve my MPG ;) Now, those are the worst.

Keep in mind that the new Defender is an XL rated tire now. So likely a slightly stiffer sidewall than the Conti's.

In my opinion, the new Defenders feel slightly more planted than the older versions, which is appreciated with our squishy suspension.

Defenders have near full depth siping. Might be something to consider vs the conti.

Is someone forcing you to read every thread? If you don’t like a topic then skip over it. I don’t recall seeing much about continental tires posted here.

I have them since late 2021 and have about 59k miles on them. I don't offroad so these tires are perfect for me. They are good in the wet and are quiet. I will get the same tires again when it is time for a new set. I still have a lot of thread to go thru this year.DSCF9642.jpg

I can see both sides of this issue. I blame the mods. They should be moving these tire threads to the dedicated wheel and tire forum. Come to think of it, maybe there should be a dedicated oil and fluids forum.

Why blame the mods? If you aren’t interested in something then don’t read it. It’s pretty fricken simple.

Gee whiz you’re right. In fact, why not just have one big happy forum that all threads are posted in? You can just skip the threads you’re not interested in.

[I apologize Turd. I’ve been a little confrontational lately, and I’ve been trying to be less so. And after I typed out this post I stared at the “Post Reply” button for a long time, knowing that the better man wouldn’t press it. But, alas, I pressed it. Throwing down the gauntlet. Obligating you to meet the challenge with an equal or greater degree of snark. O sad day, when I stop to consider my actions, and yet I choose wrongly.]

I generally don’t open the sub forums at all. I just hit the new posts tab, scroll down and click on anything that seems interesting.

Back to the continental tires. I’ve noticed some of the Kia Tellurides come Continental Terrain Contact AT tires which look like a nice in between of highway and AT tread.

Yes, they are ATs. Got them from Tire Rack.
