Anyone know anything about RV ac units?

We had a Furrion Chill HE 13500 BTU air conditioner installed in our popup last year, mostly for the comfort our short-nosed dogs. We had an independent rv repair place install it for us. We have used it before with no issues but last weekend it was especially hot and humid and we left it on overnight (may be the issue) and woke up to a frozen ac unit that leaked water all over the place.

I read the manual but it was not helpful.

I'm seeing the most likely culprits are
    1. Dirty coils (they look very clean)
    2. Dirty Filter (I cleaned)
    3. AC freeze sensor not working or not in place**
    4. Clogged water runoff outlet (don't think this is the issue, water running out of line while operating and after unit turned off)

**There are no pics of the freeze sensor in the manual and all the ones I'm seeing online don't look like anything I have near the condenser coils. This wire seems much thicker than what I'm seeing for sensors. Additionally, from what I understand the sensor is supposed to be pushed into the coils to work properly and the fins on the condenser are in perfect condition front and back (ie no sensor has been pushed in anywhere).

Is the arrow pointing to the ac freeze coil sensor? The star is where it originates from.

After reviewing some installation videos I still don't know what that wire is but it's not the freeze sensor. It looks like I'm going to have to search for that on the interior side after I pop the trailer up.

Based on the condition of the fins (again on either side of the condenser) the freeze sensor was never placed. So that's where I'm at.

Any chance the drains are still draining but clogged only just enough to cause a back up? Esp. with the extra high humidity.

Maybe. Upon further investigation (courtesy of etrailer) Furrion uses drain holes instead of a drain line. All the yellow highlighted areas are the drain holes. Supposedly they did this to prevent a single line from getting clogged.

I'm going to put the trailer up tomorrow before it gets too hot, so if I don't get anywhere with the freeze sensor, that'll be my next avenue.

I have worked on helicopters with car type vapor cycle air conditioners - and the copper tube is definitely supposed to be inserted in the coils of the evaporator. I would think that any RV place with maintenance services could help you with that. The copper tube is quite delicate, so don't kink it or damage in any way or it won't work properly. I am assuming your installation is out of warranty, or you could go back to the installer.

EDIT: regarding cleaning of the condenser coils - there is a spray can foaming type cleaner that lifts the dirt off the coils as the foam expands. It can be found at any Lowe's or Home Depot. No tools necessary for cleaning. It rinses off with water.

In this image, one of the very dirty air conditioning evaporators (the box in the center of the picture with the "wire" coming out of the center of it), the capillary tube is shown in the center of the coils in the "box". That is the same tube that you have in the picture that you posted showing the copper tube not properly in place.

I cleaned this evaporator with the foaming spray without any disassembly or removal from the helicopter.
