    Hi all,

I've got a set of 5100s (just shocks and will use stock springs for now) that I need to get on my brand new 4Runner. I just called Tandem Offroad and they quoted me $700 for the install and 4WheelParts was $562, both including alignments.

I am wondering if anyone around DFW has the tools/space or knows of a community garage I could go to and install this myself for much cheaper? I'm in an apartment rn so tools and space are hard to come by. Certainly willing to throw in a few cases or $$ depending on your preference.

    Cheers!

I’m all for DIY’ing, but if that’s $562 including swapping the springs and the alignment, if you can’t find a place to do it yourself, $562 sounds like a pretty good deal. You are welcome to come do it at my place in Pipe Creek, but I think with gas the way it is you are better off local.

I appreciate it. Yeah, that includes it all. Now I understand why 99% of people suggest doing all the suspension all in one go. Buy once, cry once...

Or just go buy all the tools once. You only need a few really.

Yeah, suspension installs isn’t a fun day in the garage drinking beer task…to me, anyways.

Basically $100 a corner, plus another $100 for alignment. Not too shabby, although the rear's should be maybe $25 a corner, lol.

Springs can be very dangerous, be careful.

I'm going to second Randy, I don't know what prices are in Texas but you figure an alignment is about $100, tank of gas if you are driving a significant distance. That's not the worst price ever.
That being said, I did my own and if you have the space and tools, it is easy. Plenty of great videos on youtube to show in detail all the steps. Do you know what setting you are going to go with?

Took me a day & a half (I'm old..) to install Eibach's on all 4. Spent $22 on a Harbor Freight spring compessor (it was on sale) and scared shitless doing the first compression but then it was a cakewalk, although a slow and cautious cakewalk. It ain't rocket science, just have to take your time and think things out so you only do it once. The alignment was typical - $100.

Lol, No injuries. I was saying it WOULD BE HARD to complete the install if I lost a finger mid coil compression.
