Friend just purchased a 2014 4runner and I was wonder if the 4runner had the same problem with the secondary air injection system as does the Tacoma.

Was curious about this myself. I've done AIP bypass on my 4th gen v8 4runner and my 2nd gen Tundra and helped a buddy get one for his tundra but wonder now for his 5th gen 4runner.

The pump looks the same as the one on my Tacoma. She decided to do the Uni filter mod after I talked to her about. Couldn't hurt.

I did the filter mod and the pump seems a lot happier. People even ask what that noise is when I shut it down, it's pretty loud now. I felt like it couldn't hurt and it's no big deal to buy the filter every year or so.

Been reading up on this … do you think it will need the bypass mod (slyfox) also when out of warranty or should this uni filter be all that's needed ?

I don't know, it may in the future but right now it's working fine.
