Seems like my generation doesn’t appreciate forums much anymore.

I’m 23 and in my opinion, my generation is split between the kids who got every new gadget and got hooked to it so now they’re homebodies that never do anything and the kids who got the video games and played them but still went outside and had what I call a real childhood.

Reason I ask is because it seems majority of the guys on here are mature and respectful. Lots of wisdom and knowledge not just on our 4R’s but in general.

I feel like I went from 22 to 34 real quick when I got engaged, graduated, and moved across the country. Hell my best friend out here is in his 50’s.

I’m curious, as you were growing up, did you feel you had to make a conscious choice between getting sucked into your phone/tech and staying out in the real world?

Or was it that the whole online thing was less interesting to you than “playing outside” (so to speak).

Im really wondering how it is that kids get through shit nowadays.

Take time to travel or live elsewhere for a bit and invest your money. Best advice for the young 20’s.

This. I didn't really start traveling till my 40's, and a large part of that was for work. It's cool that they paid for it, but I didn't have a lot of tourist time. Now I've been to thirty countries or so and wish I had started earlier.

Funny you’re from CO. Visited Breckenridge in 2009, fell in love, lived in Breck for almost 4 years and a brief stint in CO Springs from 2010-2014, mid 20’s. Learned a lot about myself and definitely matured during that time. One of the best decisions I made in my 20’s for sure.

I fall into the category of being outdoors and enjoying nature along with staying up all night playing video games at times lol. Definitely a lot of Call of Duty time in the past. Haven’t played a video game in a long time though

You know, I was the type of kid that always wanted to go fast or do “daredevil” shit. I had a game boy, PlayStation, etc. but only really played it at night. I never had much of an urge to play all day long or whatever. Now when CoD MW2 came out, I was on that shit more than I know. I had a phone in 3rd grade but that’s just because I used to ride my bike to the YMCA to play basketball or just whatever I did without my parents. I also grew up in a neighborhood with like 7-10 boys between 5 years younger and 4 years older so always had something to get into.

This! I haven’t played many video games in years but I had my Call of Duty days for sure. I basically lived on a dirt bike during my teens though

That’s exactly what we did. I’m from NC, didn’t travel much as a kid, and now it’s all I want to do. Great advice

Maybe you ARE the youngest on here. Stick around for 4Runner tips as well as the best lunch specials in town. I see you're driving a '22, whereas I'm still cruising the '84. Mine's 7 feet tall and bright orange so I can find it in the parking lots these days with my eyes deteriorating as they are.

Word of advise, never send pictures of your dinger to other people online. Send pictures of other people's dinger and just pretend it's yours. By the time you get called out on it you've already made it to at least third base, and you can still truthfully say you've never sent a picture of your own dinger to anyone online.

FYI, you’re doing great to be 23 y/o and driving a brand NEW 4Runner.
When I was 23 y/o I was driving a 5 year old used Mercury Capri convertible.

At work, through out my entire career, I was always the youngest tech in the group. It doesn't end there, if I hang out at a bar now, even when 21, I was always around the "older people". Kinda odd. Even when I was young, my friends where always older. I MUCH prefer the generation(s) above mine. (I'm 46 now) I love my mom/dads, and especially my grandfathers generations. (My favorite people). They are the ones I want to learn from, I want to have a decent convo with. Just something, makes me want to hang around with these folks. I like their attitudes, straight forward, no bullshit way about things. Ive also found, that if you are deserving, you will get ALL the respect you ever crave/deserve, as well, as a undying loyalty. Also, just as quick to sniff out bullshit, and treat you like complete shit, if so deserving. That, for me, is big time comforting.

I don't want to judge. And don't take this wrong, but, ....... I really cant stand people your age. lol. I'm sure there's people like yourself I could easily get along with, but most/many that I seen, their work ethic is shit, values are in the toilet, hobbies are lame, staring a phone, feel like hell if they dont get a like/heart thingy on a lame picture (usually of themselves), and, the music is shit. I remember the 2 gens I speak highly of, coming down on my generation for being lazy, no ambition, and, listen to shit music. So, I figure, now maybe I'm just getting old. You seem to "get it" more than most. I hope you keep it, and even grow it. Hope to run into you on the trails mate. Happy adventures out there. (man, to be 23 again,.... sheesh)

Naw, these young people now a-days, .... suck. ;)

I feel like it’s just a Trend to like the generations before yours and shit on the ones after. I graduated undergrad just last year and have already seen how shitty the school has become overall and my fraternity has become a sinking ship. I won’t even get into details but man some of the shit they do now is so embarrassing.
As far as music goes, I like my rap music for sure and can understand why you’d hate it. I like more of the 2010’s of rap like old lil Wayne and drake but with that being said, I grew up on classic rock so I listen to that more than anything now.

I'm in the same boat, 24 years old. You sound like me, outside everyday as a kid but MW2 consumed so much time i dont even want to talk about. Turned 18, joined the military and that makes you grow up quick. Moved from the east coast to west, got Married, graduated, and just had a kid. Felt like once i turned 21, it seemed like i was in my mid 30s already.

Save your money boys, always maximize your 401k at work and plan to make a ROTH IRA contribution each year. That was the wisest advice I ever got when I was your age. You cannot get these earnings years back so learn to save first and budget off the rest.

I can tell you firsthand its amazing what your retirement will look like by age 43. All it takes is some discipline buddy.
