Yes, that is a good point, their dealership network is distant and rare. Although my closest toyota dealership, Concord sucks balls deep. I used to go there with my sienna. I am sick of this place therefore I go to Vallejo if I need anything or order from them....LoL.

Did u have any chance to ask some other bmw service centers? I did not, but maybe I should...

Land Cruiser 250 is sold in many markets......not just the US. Demand elsewhere appears to be quite high. A multiple year wait in Japan, evidently.

4Runner sales are a mixed bag if you trust the numbers posted earlier as a reflection of consumer sales (I do). It's hard to explain other than a slow roll out and a polarizing design, both in looks and powertrain.

The majority of Toyota dealers in the East Bay suck, totally agree. Even Walnut Creek which used to be great is getting a bit shady. Don't even mention Milpitas or Fremont or Livermore or Dublin, lol. The only dealership I still recommend to an extent is Sunnyvale and even then it can be hit and miss depending on who there ends up dealing with you. A salesman who I worked with on both my 4Rs left and didn't want to go into why with me on the phone. :/

I do need to make some more calls, but being a small brand and utilize so many German parts, I am wary of after market support if they decide to pull up stakes and leave the market.

Is that how they do it? Unless they changed, that wouldn’t make sense as I remember seeing cars that were discontinued stick around for a bit on sales reports likely long after they would’ve been sold to a dealer.
    I’ll have to look

Out here in the land of fruits and nuts I have only seen two or three 6th gens on the road. I see a greater number of 4th Gen Tacomas, but still.

Those are generally accounting and inventory tracking issues where units lost between car makers, distributors, and dealers were finally reconciled when proper accounting was eventually done.

Earlier this month there was a report that a number of units of Dodge Dart, a car that was discontinued in 2016, were sold this year. Now do you really think some poor shlub out there walked into a dealership and bought a Dart that's been sitting on the lot rotting away for 9 years, or is it more plausible that someone at a dealer/distributor finally sat down and got to some messed up paperwork and wrote the units off to balance the sheet?

    Good points.

I think I will get back to the idea of an FJ 40, as a baby only, not to drive. :)

    I'm driving my 4th 4Runner. I've had a 2003, 2007, 2020 and now a 2024. I bought each and every one for one primary reason: Reliability.

I just looked at the new Consumer Reports issue. Several Toyotas are have "Reliability" listed as a con. I don't trust Consumer Reports much on their auto ratings, as they seem to get a gigantic boner over any vehicle whose name starts with "Subaru." But I can't remember a time in the past when reliability was a concern for any Toyota model.

I'm old and I plan to keep my 5th Gen 4Runner for as long as I'm still driving. But if it got wrecked or stolen today, I would not go buy a 2025 4Runner or Land Cruiser or any other Toyota. Right now, I don't trust them. And Toyota will have to acknowledge and resolve these issues that keep popping up before I'd consider buying another one. I'd probably go look at a Honda Passport Trailsport. I don't do any real off-roading, so that one would probably suit me just fine.

Yes new old stock is sold. Its not common, but it does happen for a variety of reasons.

It also make no sense in an accounting world to do what you're suggesting.

Right, totally normal for people to be buying 9 year old new old stock Dodge Darts from dealers. Your detailed explanation is overwhelmingly compelling.

    LMAO.

LOL right. The point was to make it so outlandish. LOL.
It's not like shoes where some stealership just forgets they have a Dart sitting in the backlot for 9 years and then on a lot clean up a revelation is made, was the point. Where shoe stores (or just any other retail store) will find an item buried in a back corner of a warehouse still brand new.

I just watched only a bit of an Edmunds video (an impulse click, I didn't search for it, I swear) about a long-term update of its 6th gen 4Runners. They hated the stiff ride but my immediate reaction was that 4Runner owners frequently load them to or even beyond the GVWR with people, pets, accessories and gear.

Seems like everything I see talks about how much better the 6th get rides over previous models. I don’t think I’ve seen a negative on ride quality. This is typically owners who upgraded from a previous gen to the new 6th gen. May not hold as much water from a company who drives other stuff daily. A highlander does ride better but a highlander has 4” of suspension travel and 8” of ground clearance and is a tin tub with tons of road noise in comparison to the 4R. If they’re long term testing a GMC Acadia and jump out into the 4R sure, the ride isn’t going to seem the same.

I tried to ask on that Facebook post, but it's not letting me. IDK if it's something wrong with FB, or maybe I can't because I'm not a member in that group.

It looks awesome but I would be nervous about the transmission overheating with those massive tires.

Can confirm, my wife has an 24 Acadia AT4, and I have a 23 4runner OR. The Acadia is a better road car, more comfy, better mpg, more room. She/we haven't taken it off road mostly because the 4runner is much better there. It is good on snow and ice though.
