Any thoughts on this Smittybilt compressor regarding long term reliability? upload_2022-3-22_9-14-22.jpg

I’ve borrowed my buddy’s one and it seems pretty quick to inflate and sounds unstressed while doing so. A little on the big side though.

Am I missing any other worthy contenders that dont cost a grand?

I have that one, I’ve used it for about two years now and it’s done great. Use it a lot in the summer when it’s over 100 degrees out, and use it to inflate my own rigs tires and others and it hasn’t pooped out yet.

How long does it take you to air up?
And have you changed the fittings/hoses?

It takes about 3 minutes to fill up a 295/70/17 from 20psi-40psi. And no I use everything it came with.

I have been watching for the Napa ones to become available again for a while. No luck. I just ordered the Harbor Freight cordless 20v one to try out. It says it has 160 psi but looks like it might be big. I will update when it gets here and I can try it out.

Didn't think these napa ones would be this high in demand. I ordered it thinking it's just another compressor I can try. I already have a compressor and an air tank. After trying out this compressor, I gave my old compressor to my brother. Great compressor at a great price, if one can source one.

I read on the FB page that napa corp. has some of these in stock but are not shipping them to individual stores. Maybe try finding a # and giving them a call??

Do you have this one? How long? It looks even bigger than the Smitty, which is already pretty big…hmmm

I signed up for alerts from Napa when those come back in stock. Not a peep in a long time now. Just got this today. I aired down to 30 psi and aired it back up to 35.5 in about a minute. It seems like it has plenty of grunt to run a 4 wheel setup. Digital control, 12v cig plug or 20v cordless. It’s quieter than my Slime air pump! Happy so far! :)

I'm not sure the dimensions, it's out in the car. I'll measure it when I get a chance and post it up.

I've only used it once, and not even on my forerunner. My Volvo 's tire was almost flat, it aired up from nearly flat to 35 in about a minute.

Light Brite tested one of these, though it was under a different brand name. If I remember correctly, using a four-way setup it aired up a set of 40s in under 10 minutes.

I will also vouch that the Napa one is a beast. I could not believe how fast I went from 15 to 40 PSI.

I loved this compressor the few times I used it. Aired up my 265/70’s even faster than I imagined.

This thing has actually just been sitting in my garage so if anyone is interested, send me a message!

    Following..

Please share if there is any low cost compressor with mount that can be fixed on passenger side that does not require any drilling or does not require relocating of existing components, please..

Okay - not exactly "cheap" but it is mounted on the passenger side.. ;)

You might be able to mount this. I use it on my RZRs, but it's not easily accessible right now to see if there's mounting holes/feet.

Thank you Sixgunz. I was thinking if there is any quick inflators with ready to install mount that goes on passenger side. I this Slime one might be same as my Craftsman which takes a really long time to inflate couple of 4runners.

I think I missed a critical info, sorry. I meant passenger side in engine bay :D

I was thinking something like this. But this seem to need some work. Wish there is some easy solution. If not will use my old old Craftsman one. As a added bonus it gives sometime for me to rest until my buddies inflate..:p

I know many folks have mounted their compressors there but that location has a couple of concerns for me, one is operating environment (like heat, moisture, etc) and the other is should you decide later to install an extra battery - where ya going to put it?

Didn't thought about it. I was only thinking I didn't want to block fuse box area, why I thought I would pick passenger side. Thank you, I guess cargo area might be a better location then.

Just a suggestion, especially for the ones running a tire carrier.

Im planning on using a steely rim and mount a smittybilt 2781 in the rim and placing it back under the spare wheel area. Cut off gator clips and attach power wire and fuse running it straight to the battery. Personally, placing it in the engine bay would decrease the compressors life with the continuous heat surrounding it plus with moisture from the rain.

I wrote this article, which involves a similar installation of a VIAIR 400H-A in the same spot. Pretty easy, and works well.
