    Working on that…
Looking for some advice from those who have added the sub in the back of a 4RUNNER when it was not factory installed, which is the case I’m in. I’m not sure what speaker system came with it but I will say the speakers sounded way better with factory head unit, and before I installed a boss double din in the dash. Anyway, looking to bypass main speakers and get a little bump from a sub (and amp) in the back. I am aware that some sub require some fabrication to install in the factory location. Any suggestions would be great! Thank y’all

    Kyx nerfbars, TRD roof rack.
The stock speakers probably suck. I would replace them first before worrying about a sub. I just swapped my stock oem speakers in my 2022. The speaker magnets are tiny compared to aftermarket speakers. I am getting an amp installed Friday. I did that first to improve the sound. You could always add a sub later on. There are underseat or enclosure options out there you can add later.

Stock speakers are shit. If you amp you may wanna consider one with a DSP so you can actually make some tweaks and really improve on the sound. There isn’t much room for adjustment on the factory HU.
After that an enclosure makes a huge difference filling in the sound.
I used this but have since gone a different route, was actually thinking of posting it in the for sale here as well. Good luck!
