Accessory Meter Display & Harness

Per his instructions, you cannot mix the colors of the units. So if you dash is blue, you need the blue panel.

 

I just stumbled on this thread today and wanting to get this mod done. Old Red’s Google request form stated that he is sold out of the harness and currently he is not taking any orders. Anyone got a harness and change their minds on the mod? If so, I will buy it. Thanks in advance.

 

@Old Red makes a batch of these from time to time, then puts out a notification that they're up for sale. @ReRunner posted in this thread back in January that the request form was open, and a lot of us who saw that jumped on it. I don't know where he saw that, though.

If you go back to maybe first post or so I believe

he explains clearly what too look for

my truck is 2016 n has multi terrain, crawl, etc
not sure if it changed for newer models or ones without mts cause I think I heard people NOT being able to do the mod due to having a newer truck/no mts crawl
unless OldRed had accommodated those years/trims

but basically the deal is that there is orange or blue

n there are 2 MODELS of each color n each, all four, have a different STAMP on the back of the AMD
4 total

Ex
blue 1 has stamp 2x
Blue 2 has stamp z9

n so on

you have make sure the STAMP is correct

I found tons online that were orange but didn’t have the right STAMP

product number is irrelevant without the STAMP STAMP STAMP

so even if you buy off Toyota website, you’d have to verify somehow if it’s the correct sub model
It has to do with the electrical/lighting/bulbs used in the actual AMD if it’ll work kinda deal

I bought mine on eBay from Canada for bout 50 total

found a lot of blue displays on junkyard websites

The model year matters as far as the harness needed (different for 2020+), but not for the display. And no, the non-Offroad models without Crawl Control and MTS cannot use the AMD.

 

At least we have confirmation but personally I think it looks out of place.

 

Fuck this is the first time I'm seeing this mod and I want it. Time to search out where to contact red and if this will work on my 4Runner

 

Once he builds more harnesses, there should be some available for the 2020+ OR models. He usually has both versions.

 

Does anybody have the installation instructions?? I cant seem to find them anywhere and want to do my install tonight. TIA.

Yes, and I probably deleted it I cant seem to find it anywhere in my email, downloads, etc. Guess Ill shoot him an email but was hoping for a little help from my homies first

 

He's going to want confirmation that you purchased so be ready with that. People have been copying his work.

Bahhhhhh I just spent a lot of minutes combing my email going back to January when I purchased the wiring harness, and just in case anybody else cannot find their install directions, it does not say *anything at all on the email about accessory meter, old red, 4runner, nothing. Its a shared google drive email and in the body of the email is: "2020-23MY AMD Retrofit Harness Install ORD PDF Rev. A.pdf"

It is also a 1.2GB file lol. But now I found it. If anybody else cannot find theirs, I hope this post helps somewhat. I just tore up 3 different computers looking for it LOL. Im going to drink some wine

 

@Old Red has mentioned more than once he would prefer direct correspondence with him regarding instructions, and not sharing due to the risk of people stealing/copying his work…

 

Yeah, totally understand this and I dont think anybody will debate it.

Found in my email, working on printing it rn but 1.2gb is taking a long time over the air to make it to my laser printer, lol. I dont think I have the energy to tackle the install tonight, so its looking like tomorrow or maybe this weekend. Either way, super stoked!!

Yes, this has been the policy since I started getting folks emailing me asking for copies of things without ever having a harness, that and some very questionable phishing emails.

My policy has been pretty clear for a while (it's literally in the first three pages of each PDF) regarding forwarding, sharing, posting my material. Due to recent issues, I will be migrating to a more secure way doing things, as well as enforcing copyright, even if it is snippets of my stuff. @MineralSC can you remove the screen shot of that table please.

Moving forward I will start taking actions against infringing parties, companies, and copyright violations. I no longer am going to be lenient.

All future harness batch releases are on hold until the PDF platform is finished being set up and secured.

Part of the issue is that people post portions of info that are only applicable to a certain harness build dates or a previous version, then people get confused, mixed up, or have issues with the install. If you have purchased a harness and have questions please reach out to me directly as you will get a much more clear and specific answer.
