Quite possible. Hard to believe it was mechanical. Guess we'll never know.

Mine was flat bedded once when the tranny overheated. I was on the interstate when it did it so I had it towed to the nearest dealer. Turned out that a tranny line was kinked. Had no clues how that happened but it never overheated again. Wrecker guy said it was the first time he had ever towed a 4Runner. This was back in 95.

Maybe it has 200,000 miles and the owner never changed the timing belt.

Wrangler Duratracs, center console organizer & trav all 1576 dog divider for the rear. Xpel wrap with ceramic coating. 20% tint on front windows. TRD intake. TRD oil cap Plus parts on shelf & a wish list.
    If we are guessing...
Radiator hose became brittle & blew.
It does have a "gangster lean" not sure if that is it or the rear wheel is atop the flatbed rail...
Another good guess was the timing belt.
Toyotas don't break; you break them. Lol
It is a clean looking runner so it has to be simple.
A picture is worth a million words.

Nah - the tow truck was getting repaired, the owner of the tow truck drove his 4Runner to pick it up when the job was complete, and loaded it up for the trip back.
