Hit the grocery store for supplies (beer) ahead of this weekend's ice storm and came out to find a 5th gen parked next to me. Not sure how he got that lift in while still running factory UCA's, but it looked good.

This is something that I hate seeing on trucks/suv's:

Skinny/Low profile style tires with aggressive tread on a lifted vehicle. To me that screams "Bro". Its rare that I see that setup on 4Runners. The douchebags that have them are usually rolling around around town "Rolling Coal" in their Ford/RAM/Chevy HD series truck. It's always a cartoonish lift with a drop hitch (as if they're actually towing).

In my neighborhood there is like a 10:1 ratio of 4Runners to Starbucks. I’ll see a dozen on any outing. But yesterday I actually got a thumbs up from another 4Runner driver. After 4 years driving a 4Runner I got an acknowledgment from another 4Runner owner. His vehicle was a 4th gen in Imperial Jade green. Maybe I was getting the thumbs up because our 4Runners were both green. Anyway, I was gobsmacked.

Oh man was I wrong. Since I wrote the reply above I have been purposely looking for 4Runners in my area. I guess I have been assuming that for every 4Runner I happened to see there must be many that I didn’t. Wrong! I must have been seeing all of them. Keeping a rough tally of some other types of 4X4s as well. In order of frequency:

Wranglers

G-Wagens

Broncos

Xterras (yeah, more old Xterras than 4Runners of any age!)

Defenders

FJ Cruisers

4Runners (all generations)
