I found that amp and it also has speaker level inputs negating a need for a LOC.

Ive never seen that plug and play device from kicker since I always replaced the head unit. It adds resistance so that the factory head units still thinks theres speakers attached and functions normally. I wonder if thats required.

Alpine amp/sub. Paid a bit for it but it came with all the 4runner harness connectors. Speaker harnesses can be found everywhere (Crutchfield, Amazon...). Again there's other options, it's just the one i went with.

You guys and your stereo fetish are a half a bubble off but I am grateful to @Thacrow for his intrepid efforts which so helpfully propelled us along on our collective DCM Disconnection Odyssey.

Anybody know a decent speaker set for the two front dash ones? My passenger side sounds blown. I get you can get a full kit, but I thought individual speakers didnt fit the front? Or is there a decent set of fronts from somebody that will fit? Dont want an amp, just want clear sound again. Any ideas would be awesome. All ive seen to date is a vid of a guy modifying a speaker to fit front passenger dash, was hoping I could just buy one out of the box to fit. THanks!

I did that and got a no fit with my 16? Are you getting a fit on yours? I like the stuff you guys posted its pretty cheap option from the full kit.

many thanks!!! Hey on that list if your just staying stock and no adding an amp, which do you think is the best brand for clarity? I havent been much into stereo stuff in over 20 years, had amps, bass cap and tons of add on junk but am clueless if the same brands from years ago are still good today? What you think on say Pioneer vs. Kicker?

Guys I was looking at vikings garage and his use of the red wolf wire harness for upgrading front dash speakers to 3.5 in ones. Says the red wolf cant be used with the limiteds? Any idea what the difference is and if so if I got say infinity 3.5s for front dash what wire harness to use? Not sure what to do here as everything ive read says non limiteds only?

I drove my 4R off the lot and to the stereo shop. Kept the HU for reasons mentioned. Replaced all speakers with Focal's and a BLAM amp. Sound deadening mats and a JL sub. And had it tuned. All hidden. It sounds soo good I take the long way home now!

    it's funny to me.

People spend $$$ to put a sound system into what is essentially a background noise generator...

But then, I'm a vinyl, turntable, reel to reel, Pioneer SPEC-2 and Bose 901 guy... but at 74 yrs old I don't have the ears to appreciate high end audio anyway...

My front right dash speaker exploded during a decent session of Black Sabbath. So thats why I need the info. I had a full custom stereo years ago on one truck, never again! But now its needed for a dash swap

Another Adcom system here. I have had it since the mid-90s. Traveled with me from Athens to Atlanta, to Seattle, and back to Atlanta again.

Still going strong and sounding great! I just got it set up this past year. They have been in their boxes for 10 years. Looking to add a turntable soon.

Suburu tweeter is a perfect swap. The Infinity reference swap works well too but needed some chop and mod (that's what I did). Let me find links. https://www.4runners.com/threads/2023-limited-jbl-amp-swap-build.44171/

Extra vote for deadening. It's not too expensive and helps cut the highway noise quite well. I appreciate the deadening more than the new amp/speakers. Also note that strips work well for reducing vibration too if you can't get into everywhere. You don't need to cover every inch... altho I did like @Thacrow did when I built a new sleeping/stash bin setup. It is sooooo loud without the foam and filler since you get exhaust noise and tire noise right up through the wheel wells and floorboard.

Anyone have a general idea of the difference in factory sound deadening among Limited, TRD and SR? 5th gen. if any.
