No joke, Oem are pretty good with little hassle, Have not seen any performance decrease with them. Will recommend.

Trico 12L has been OK over the past year. It includes a snap-in peg for ramping onto the window frame in the stowed position.

I’ve always had great results using OEM Toyota wiper refill inserts for my 2014 and now 2021. They always lasted at least 1 year or longer without issues.

I made the idiot mistake of throwing my OE arms in the trash. But after getting frustrated with the expense and performance of aftermarket wipers, I ended up buying new OE arms again so I could go back to the factory rubber inserts.

It seems like all the aftermarket options are pure marketing. They’re way more expensive than OE, wear out sooner, and never quite operate as smoothly/nicely.

Well, meet a fellow idiot. I did the same thing some time back. I finally got fed up with trying to guess each time I need wiper blades which ones are going to not only work, but last past 6 months. Today I just ordered new oem blade assemblies/inserts that you can swap out the inserts on next time around.

I’m glad I hung onto the previous arm.

The wiper on there didn’t wipe the inside arc completely, the Trico rear I replaced it with switched to not wiping the bottom properly and made a louder clunk when retracting.

Put the old arm back — that I assume is original — with a new rubber wiper from the dealer and it’s now working well.

Ironically, the cost to undo my mistake and buy new OE wipers frames and rubber inserts cost a bit more than getting fancy aftermarket wipers. Could have been worse.

Now the only thing I need to do is convince my nearest Toyota parts dept to carry inserts. They’ve told me Toyota “stopped making rubber refills” on a couple occasions. Last time they gave me that line, I corrected him and told him that’s not the case, and politely requested they start stocking them as a service to their customers. I’m sure that will convince them to stock it lol:rolleyes:

Last time I ordered inserts I went through toyota online and could only have them shipped to a dealer an hour away.

I have replacement inserts but it still sucks once it collects some dirt. The front is fine but I have to use gas station swamp water if I want to actually see out the back.

Reverse is just slightly taller than 1st gear, so ~40 mph at redline

I cant find Toyota inserts for the front so i went the Bosh blades which are fine. The rear has no insert option at Toyota so you have to buy the whole thing.

I used to spend hours hand applying a perfect coat of rainx way back in the day. Nowadays, the windshield washer fluid they make is really just as good. Once it starts raining, a few short bursts of the washer fluid and then the water just rolls off just like a fresh coat of rainx!

So one should buy nine of 85214-42040 and zip tie them together to make トヨタ純正 rear whipper

Toyota makes the best wipers. If you have your factory blades, you can still get Japanese made inserts for $5 each. Mine had aftermarket wipers and would not work. I got Japanese blades from ToyotaPartsDeal.com for $22 each front and $5 insert for the rear. Always save your old parts.

If it matches the behavior of the Tundra and Tacoma, then the camera won't shut off above a certain speed. In fact, you can put the lever into reverse while driving forward at highway speeds. The ECM doesn't physically shift the transmission into reverse, but the camera and reverse lights will activate.

They have some strange safety things built in. My hatch didn't shut completely and when I would occasionally hit a bump, hazard lights and dash lights and a tone would come on, then go off. I guess they are worried about something falling out the back, especially kids. I wish they would mention these things in the manual instead of see dealer.
