Condolences on the loss of your mom. Hang on to that white one, for sure. I can relate, as 20 years ago now (where did the time go) my mom went in for a routine surgery and never recovered and we had to take her off life support two weeks later. In a letter in her safe, among the documents she had left for her estate, she told me to get a Jeep or truck with part of the inheritance. I took her up on that and ordered a new 2007 (first year of the JK) Jeep Rubicon from the factory with every option I wanted and none I didn't. I got a license plate that said THX MOM. To my eternal shame, six years later I got an itch and traded that in on some other vehicle, and have regretted it ever since. I know it's 20 years later, but I should still be driving that Jeep simply because it was from my mom. I consider my 4R to be so much better of a vehicle than that JK, and figure my mom would have preferred it, so I'm hanging on to this one.

He's been saying he wants be in a LC200 or variant since he joined in 2023. Hell his user name is "LC200".

There will never be "the one" that he approves of and willing to pluck down 50k for.

I think going forward "reasonably priced" and "low mileage 5th gen 4R" are not going to be in the same sentence unless it''s a unit with some less than ideal history. Same goes for any J200 Land Cruiser or 4.7L and 4.6L Prado variants. As time goes on, most of them are going to have miles piled on as commuters rather quickly. Every J200 around me with under 100k the owners are asking for 65k or more and someone is buying it because the CL ads all go away quickly.

Around 15 years ago I bought a CPO Tacoma and within a year, the number I was seeing on KBB was higher than what I paid. There is some subjectivity in that number, and I don't remember the precise dollar amounts, but it was between 5% and 10% of the price I paid. Demand can alter the typical depreciation curve one sees with cars. Prime example, though not a 4Runner:

Thinking of me again! Your infatuation for me is borderline unhealthy.
But nevertheless, why don't you put some miles on your 3 year old 4runner and then we will talk. A quick glance of your posts show that you have little to contribute in terms of actual content. That's because you hardly know anything about the 4runner let alone a LC200. The fact that you are looking for a LC200/300 at 50k shows your ignorance on the topic. LC is not a bigger 4runner.
I would gladly ignore you but you seem to be persistent in bringing me up.

Life is too short for Mr. "Lc200" to be sans a j200 at your age.

Maybe if you spend less of your valuable time on this forum trolling people with your idea of the J200 Supremacy, you can up-skill and get a better paying job to one day achieve your life long ambition of a used LX570 that's juuuust the right year and juuuuust the right color and juuuust the right mileage and juuuuust the right interior.

    But who are we kidding.

I probably won’t be getting another one then. I’m not guying to pay stupid prices for a used vehicle.

2nd gen Tacoma pricing is insane too. A 12 to 15 year old truck should be something that a high school kid could afford to drive but nope, they are $20-25K. Absurd. This world is messed up.

Nice! Thanks for the info! So my 2015 Tacoma is worth about 75% of what I paid for it and all those losers that bought TuRD Gen Tacomas can EAT it! :bananadead:

I can't possibly up skill dude. I have a double Masters in my field from England and Australia. And ran my own firms in both these countries for a decade each. That's where you and I differ.
You slog, save and retire and call it life well lived. A myopic view of life if anything.
Nobody is getting trolled here about the land cruiser other than you. And I am very thick skinned to be intimidated by anyone, let alone a random on a public forum that has no idea what he's talking about.
Ask questions about how to make your 4runner last. It's not going to do it by itself. Forget about the LC/LX. You are just embarrassing yourself at this point with your childish retort and posts.
So the bottom line is, I am done digressing from the topic in threads and would not be responding to your posts.

Look at this one. The last few years of the 2nd gen’s are selling for more money than the first few years of the 3rd gen.
I paid $31K for my 2014 TRD off-road when new.

Nonsense, one can always upskill. The moment you stop learning you are good as a vegetable. My dad's almost 80 and he's running a Claude class with a group of retirees and teaching younger coders with no attention span how to do it. He was trained as an EE but worked most of his career on hardware side of things.

says somone who refuses to learn new skills and better his earning power

Oh, double masters degrees from England and Australia and you ended up in the US after 20 years of running your own firms in those countries? Wow. Why that's just pinnacle of success surely worthy of lofty boasting. Well done chap, you are truly the pride and envy of 4runners.com. LOL. Someone as accomplished as you are should have a collection of LCs by now, no?

I would recommend looking at Xterras from last few years of their production, those ran their own 4.0L V6s from what i recall. There is also report that Nissan might be putting 3.8L NA V6 in their upcoming rebooted Xterra.

This is how I ended up in a 4runner to begin with. I wanted a LC for a base build, but I could buy two 4runners for the price of a new LC (2019). To get to new 4runner price, a LC would have been many years old with 100k+ miles. Yeah yeah, I know, they were just getting broken in at 100k. But I didn't want to take that chance. I've been very happy with my decision and the LC can just live in my dreams, although I don't really long for it anymore, except the LC70, which may as well be unobtanium without jumping through hoops. I'm not a circus monkey

Got my 2024 TRDORP for $47,500 but it took a few dealerships to find one in transit and get it before all of the port installed options that other dealerships wanted an extra $5k for.

To be fair, the age and mileage of a vehicle someone chooses to drive doesn't necessarily correlate to how wealthy a person is. Some of the wealthiest people I've known drove absolutely ratty vehicles.

I guess this will fit in with this thread-

A couple weeks ago, I got an unsolicited mailing from my Toyota dealer. They were inviting me to come back in to either trade in, or, just sell to them my 2022 SR5 Premium 4WD for what I paid them for it back in November of 2023.

My wife thought that was a good offer. I said yeah, but then what to I do for a vehicle? Trade up for, and would then owe thousands on, for a new over-priced 6th gen, which I have no interest in what so ever. And I still can’t fathom putting a tiny piss ant 2.5L 4 cylinder engine in such a vehicle. I don’t give a f_ck if it’s “peppy”. I’m not a leadfoot anyway. I have nothing to prove to anyone. The big 4.0L V-6 is plenty for me the way I drive, and surely will prove to be the more reliable engine over the years to come.

Besides, my 5th gen is already paid off. It’s mine. And we just recently finished paying off my wife’s 2023 RAV4 XLE Premium Hybrid AWD as well.

I’m not going into heavy debt on any new vehicles. These two machines should last us for a very long time to come, barring any idiots wrecking into us, or some SOB stealing them.

They’ll have to pry my ‘22 model from my cold, dead fingers.

Well actually, it's a 2.4L turbo. :computercoffee:, and both the gas and the "muh 465 ft-lb" "Iforce-Max" can't keep up with you on an on-ramp anyway. Apparently you gotta be towing 5k lbs to appreciate the difference, according to leading experts.

This all day. The two wealthiest people I know drive a ten year old Tacoma and a 20 year old BMW (Bought new and meticulously maintained for 250,000 miles so far). I remember as a teenager trying to talk Dad into checking a few more options boxes when he was getting a new Explorer. "I can pay $1,000 now for a sunroof, or put that money in my retirement account and have it be worth enough for me to quit working three months earlier in 20 years." I make a lot of decisions like that now.

Enjoy life now. Too many people save everything and put everything off until retirement only to be too old and worn out to do anything anymore. I’m trying to get all my adventures in now while I still can.

I paid $46k for my 24’ SR5 4x4 new. It’s the base model which I wanted as I like the cloth seats on the late 5th gens. I know I overpaid but there weren’t any available with that same spec near me. Plan was always to keep, mild build out, and replace with the same when my daughter inherits it next year. Will attempt to find a low mile 5th gen in a year or so to repeat the process for the next kid in line.

What do you consider low mileage? It’s probably going to be tough to find one.
