Just got back from a quick 3k mile trip with the pup from Washington to NM and back, to visit family spread across the southwest. I made sure to drive the 149 in Colorado, my favorite highway in any state or province. :D The river/ water you see in all these pics is the headwaters of the Rio Grande.

Not sure what I like best, the truck, the dog or the scenery...

At La Guajira Desert (Colombia): is a mesmerizing, rugged peninsula in the northernmost tip of South America located in Colombia, where the arid desert meets the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. It is a land of stark contrasts, home to the resilient Wayuu people, who have preserved their deep-rooted indigenous traditions and vibrant crafts for centuries.

Man that’s so cool. We’ve been to Cartagena but I’ve never even heard of this. Everyone should Google map it and have a look.

I also hadn't heard of it, and went to Google maps to check it out. It turns out I passed very close to it when I went to Aruba and Curacao, but we never made port in Columbia.

Dang! We just missed you by 5 days. We have a small place just down the road from there and wanted to get out for the long weekend. Hope you enjoyed it.

I'm sure I am not the first, but what is that on your roof rack?

I'm envious! I lived in the Springs for a year, and Colorado is a gorgeous state. The 149 is God's country. I tell everyone, I've driven in most states, most provinces, and a couple states in Mexico, and the 149 is my favorite highway. I've driven it in trucks and ridden it on motorcycles many times over the years.

I live in Colombia but not in la Guajira. I am doing an overlander travel inside the country.

This is another picture from Colombia in los Llanos Orientales (Eastern Plains) that represent Colombia’s "Wild West"—a massive tropical grassland plain situated east of the Andes. For an overlander, it is the ultimate frontier, offering a stark contrast to the tight, twisty mountain passes of the rest of the country.

Yeah, it's not 4R, but a life long friend and I spent 3 weeks driving from Santiago to Punta Arenas, Chile'. You have to do 2 days minimum through Argentina (via Hwy 40 if you care to look it up) to drive to Patagonia. Specifically to Puerto Natales. Or you can take the ferry. If I'm out of line 'cause it's not a 4R, speak up. The pics are still cool. Truck is a GWM Poer 4wd, diesel stick.

Torres del Paine Nat'l Park, Patagonia, Chile'.

These critters are a sub species of LLamas, called guanacos. We saw maybe a thousand in the 3 days drive through Argentina. And unlike deer, they stay in their lane.

The road between Chile' and Argentina. I called it the yellow brick road.
