Quick trip last week up to Yosemite. First time back in many years. Stunning scenery with fall colors.

Thanks! That was my original 2013 T4R SR5 purchased almost new in 2015 (dealer demo w. 10K mikes). Best vehicle I have ever owned, period. Zero issues beside wear items - despite a ton of mods! It was set up as a workhorse for survey work - below (second photo) is what it looked like just before being written off this year after a rear-end collision at ~180K miles. I just had to get another that I also use for survey work on occasion. Love the capability of the 5th gens - the perfect vehicle if you need to off-road for work!

 

Is the 4R with steel bumpers the same truck that got written off ? That’s sad

Awesome photos, as usual. I just went and looked up the plateau on google maps. So it looks like some of the FS roads you can take from Hwy 89 can actually dump you off in Zion beyond the main gate/ visitor center? I'm not asking as a way to avoid the entrance fees , but that's almost how it looks on the map. Is that what you did?

 

No, we did not do that on this trip, although I have entered many National Parks via backroads and non-standard entrances plenty of times before. I purchase the $80 annual parks pass each year, so I'm always covered no matter how I enter a park.

 

Same, I always buy the $80 pass as well. I was just curious. That's cool to know it can be done though.

IMO that's the best way to get in (I also have a Interagency Pass so I'm good)... it's fun to get into NPs in a way that 95% of others will never get to experience.

The back way into Arches NP in 2015 (before I became a Toyota fanboy, although to be fair the Xterra was a great truck):
