5th Gen 400K+ Club - Thoughts and Experience

My parents have a 2011 MY one and it gets beat on daily between my pop and myself while I was living with them, it's a tough platform. Even with just FWD and the 2.5L I4 it gets up and go. I told them if they sell it without selling it to me they will never see their grand kids ever again. LOL.

 

Thanks to all the members here voting and showing where they are with their 5th Gens in terms of miles. Seems like many of us are barely breaking in these engines.

FYI, I am trying to get a Picture and confirmation from a shop in CO that claims there is a 5th gen they have serviced with 700k. I called BS on the shop so have a bet with them and paying for the Pic and obviously want to get to know the driver if possible. They claimed it is a guy that works for Love's and supports all the truck drivers that get stranded etc. And older gentleman they say......year is 2014 and a limited. I don't believe until I see it!

Let's see....if he shows up somewhere. We might have a ball here discussing the diet/regimen of his unit.

 

If it’s true and the owner says he’s only used 0W-20 since new the 5W-30 gang will riot .

@djwantke , I'm gonna send them an email on Monday and see if I get a sticker to Canada. I've got about 262,700 km approximately on the old '95. I'll let you know if I get one.

I got a 200K one of those from Toyota for my Tacoma and it fell off the first time it rained.

 

Darn, so I guess not exterior quality. Well, at least it was a free sticker.

 

Yes! Mine too. Abmysal quality. I ordered another one. At least their cars last or used to last longer than the sticker.

 

Pretty disappointing that they couldn’t spend an extra 50 cents and make a vinyl sticker. A marketing failure too by not having people see these examples of long lasting vehicles on the road.

 

Makes me want to rack up the miles just to get the sticker.

 

That's like 40k-100k in gas money depending on where one lives.

 

2021 @ 115,000 miles. Bought it brand new with 5 miles in September of 2021

 

Eh, thats ONLY 160-175 miles a day lol. Could be possible I suppose, but damn. I think I am averaging around 105 per day. I got this 4runner with 37533 on it and today it has 47027 lol. That will put me around 500 in the same time frame. Can't wait! Going to be way more satisfying too since I got that stock muffler installed lol I honestly can't believe how quiet this thing is now. I used to hate talking on the bluetooth because I couldn't hear anyone while driving down the hwy, turns out it was that TRD muffler...

 

2011 Limited, just hit 167k today.

 

Have you put an alternator in it yet? I'm at 146K and thinking alternator in the next 10K-30K for me.

 

Nope, original water pump and alternator… and serpentine belt. I need to do the belt this year.

 

The OEM alternator is good for over 200k. Still on original at 220k. Unless it has started giving trouble.

 

@djwantke , I emailed them, and turns out they don't send stickers to Canada. Shame.

 

We'll make our own out of metal. Fasten it to the grill, Mercedes-style!

 

Then it'll last for decades - like our Toyotas! We can sell them and be millionaires.

Thanks for checking on that bud. Dang. Not possible to change odometer to miles. Americans do not understand how good America is in a lot of ways. They would understand quickly imo if they moved to canada or UK
