For starters I used the search function and couldn’t find a clear answer.

I’m in the process of mapping out my build (don’t have my truck yet). My plan is a moderate build. Proposed vehicle will be a 2021 T4R TRD OR with about a 2.5” lift on 285s KO2S. I’ll probably do a hybrid front bumper and an off road type rear bumper plus a low profile roof rack. No rear tire carrier. So I will have some extra weight.

With that lift and tire size (which is fairly common it seems) what gear ratio would make the 4.0 the happiest? 4.56 vs 4.88 on a 5th gen T4R with a little extra weight? Use will be moderate trails, trips to Home Depot and possibly long trips on the freeway 300-400 miles. Will not be a daily driver.

I think the 4.56 would put you in the sweet spot.

I have a 2020 trd pro with 4.88's I pull a small camper with it and love the regear if to drive the interstate a lot at 80+ it will be geared a little low but any other place its night and day difference for the better. 80mph puts me right at 3000 rpm
