Guys the 4x4 shifter of my 1996 3rd gen KZN185 auto has started vibrating a lot lately while in idle (not while driving like I’ve seen in other posts).

I would really appreciate if someone could help me troubleshoot the issue as I can’t afford take it to the shop at the moment..

If you put it in park, does it smooth out?

If it does, I think that may be a combination of things. Your engine is probably shaking a bit more with age at lower RPMs, the Torque Converter getting worn out with age, your motor mounts are not as stiff as they were. Older automatic cars tend to vibrate while in Drive at idle and I'm pretty sure it's mostly a worn TC.

Mine does it a bit, but it is minor. I believe it is more noticeable with the 4x4 selector since it is bolted more directly to the drive train. The automatic shifter has more linkage to take out the vibration.
