Hello 4runners,so here's the thing my 4runner's sunroof used open and close automatically with 1 touch button.now I have to manually open & close it by holding the button each time and its very annoying.whats even more annoying sometimes I dont close it evenly i would have stand up on the running board and peek on top the roof to make sure its evenly close.one time it was not and it rained alot that night.by some miracle the inside never got flooded of water but I know it can happen.so im asking does any one have a quick workable solution to this ? I know its not an electrical issue because it open and closes, there's no noise or any broken parts.it just wont close automatically like before.i fear of going to the toyota dealer coz they might scam me by saying I need to replace the whole module.and also where do I check on the 4runner for the drainage hole.i dont want to get nasty, wet surprise because I didnt uncloged my drainage.so far I dont have any issues but I want to prevent a disaster by checking and making sure.thank you so much guys I really appreciate it.

I recall seeing a thread here on how to check the drainage points and unclog them if needed. A search should show it.

as far as not closing evenly, could be some debris that is blocking closure

try putting silicone lube on the rubber pieces that meet the metal, and lithium grease on the metal parts that slide past each other.

As for drainage, try parking it up and down hill two ways, if you pour water slowly into the drainage channel, does it come out both ways?

1hole in each front corner…goes down A-pillar 1 hole each rear corner.. you can try fishing a piece of weed whacker line down the drain to clear, it’s worked for me. melt the end of the line with a lighter to eliminate any sharp edges..slides through easier

I'm not very familiar with mechanics inside sunroof closing mechanism, so I would clean all rails first. Maybe there's some dirt of debris got between sunroof and rails it's sliding on.

Isn't there some kind of hard reset where you open and close the windows/moon roof and hold the buttons down for a certain amount of time?

I know that's the case with the rear window. Sometimes it won't roll all the way up with one touch so you roll up and hold manually and it resets. I've only read about this. Haven't done it myself.
