Just wanted to say thank you to all you Toyota Owners. Previously i had a 1993 Toyota MR-2 20years ago and driving that around other MR-2 owners you got the wave/:thumbsup:/peace sign. Change in life style happened, back in 2018 I bought a BMW F36 which I still own, and man BMW can be real :censored:.

Couldnt take it so, 3 weeks ago I bought a T4R ORP and Im glad that TRD owners still  each other. Keep it going so these younger generations know!

    Happy Monday.

I don't wave to other owners (only got a SR5) who else waves? Whenever I look at another 4R the driver looks like they could give a $hit I have one. I sometimes pay attention to two Harley's also, some wave to each other some don't.

Maybe you should try to wave? Eventually other owners will catch on. Be that guy.

I don't get a 4Runner wave or anything. I do get a Shelby grin and nod though. Lots of stares, thumbs up and smiles. Of course, BMW owners frown when they come across a Shelby GT500. I am used to that...

I wave to every 4 I pass on the road and rarely get a wave back. I also wave to Jeeps and get more waves from them than the 4runner owners. :tumbleweed:

I have never received a 4Runner wave, however, more often than not, I receive a corvette wave when my 2006 Z06 is on the road and return same.

    Welcome!

I've been waved at by 4runners, Tacomas, Jeeps, and other off-road type vehicles. It's usually when I have the roof basket on and loaded.

MR2's are so cool! I had an '87 and it was tons of fun on the back-roads

Little off of the question ... but. I have found Harley riders usually do a "low 5" as do sport bike riders. BMW and Brit bike riders don't. Used to flash Raptor drivers and usually got a response. Depends on the 'Runner, is it modded? They may.

Why is it when I drive my 4Runner down the road people try to swerve into me. “Jealous” cause there rig is a few years old and won’t pass emissions prob?

Where I live it's the Harley riders that more than not won't wave if you don't also have a Harley.

I get waves from every biker doesn’t matter if I’m on the hog or the rocket. I had a conversation with a guy when I was on my ZX9. The topic of Harley’s came up and he said “Well my dog knows which one to piss on”...lol

I don't see the point in waving in this platform. it's a great truck but really....4Runners are a dime-a-dozen. I could see if we drove some rare, exotic vehicle.

I still wave to every 4Runner, it's like a project for me now. To see how many 4Runner owners have a giant stick up their ass.

I would argue that the majority of 4runner owners like them for very specific reasons. Whether it's the off-road capability, the feel of the truck, or the fact that they're built like a brick shit-house, it's something.

Most people looking for a midsize SUV would be much better off in a Highlander. It's more fuel efficient and I'm sure it's a lot more pleasant to drive on the highway.

I wave to 4runners and Tacos regularly, especially if they're modified.

Full disclosure...I try to see the best in people so I often wonder if the reason most of the Harley riders don't wave is because Harleys suck so bad that if they took their hand off the bar to wave, they would end up off the road or in the hospital. They literally need to have both hands on the bars at all times to maintain control of their POS bike.:anonymous:

The 4Runner owners have no excuse.

Maybe. I bought mine because of the legendary durability. The fairly few owners I've chatted up around here bought theirs because they look cool. I live in a small town, maybe 30k people, and every 5th vehicle I see is a 4Runner. Waving at every one of them and watching for a wave back would eat into my situational awareness.

Whereabouts in Florida? I'll make sure to wave if I pass through while I'm down there in February:wave:

I don't pay much attention to whether people wave back.

There's always going to be a percentage of people who just buy a car because they like the way it looks.

I like the way it looks, but I would be driving a Highlander or a Lexus if I wasn't interested in off-roading.

I wave but it happens rarely since it looks like there is not much 4Runner’s around me

That's big city living right there... I live between 2 small towns... Add the population up for BOTH towns and you won't hit 3K people LOL

Jeeps are much more common, Fords and Chevys too... Tacomas as well. 4runners are not nearly as common.

And I agree with you @Thatbassguy if I didn't go off-road often I'd be driving something else. I love the look of the 4runner... But they are heavy body on frame vehicles that get poor gas milage, lacks speed, and are outdated technology wise. They also cost more than many other vehicles that are much better on road for daily driving.

The reason they are worth the cost for me is their off-road ability and strength, and their dependability. Looks are a plus, but not enough to make up for the other shortcomings if you don't take advantage of the off-road benefits.

I'll be in Lee County. I'll be coming down on 75, and hopping off by Punta Gorda. I plan on doing some exploring this year. So far, planning on checking out Yucca Pens wildlife area and maybe a road trip through the Everglades and down to the keys.

I'm going to check if there's any Tacomaworld or 4runner outings while I'm down there.

    Well said! And, agreed.

On your way down 75 you could hop off and check out Citrus WMA or hard rock off-road park in Ocala if you want to have some fun along the way.

Yeah, I see that Tacomaworld is having their annual Citrus meet there around that time.

It looks like there are a lot of cool looking parks with some rustic 2 track roads.

I'll probably stay away from anything hardcore, as I only have basic recovery gear and I'm all stock.

If I find out about any meets, I'd be more inclined to challenge the truck. It's always easier when you have a group or at least another truck to pull you out if you get stuck.

I fully understand that. I don't do anything too hardcore by myself. I live real close to here so I play by myself all the time, but if I get stuck help is just a phone call and 10 minutes away.

Most of citrus is doable, plenty can be managed in 2wd even... But hard rock has damaged tons of trucks so I wouldn't recommend going there without help, a spotter, another vehicle, and recovery gear at a minimum.... And good insurance if you try spots like "Slick Rock" lol

4runner wave or thumbs up doesn't exist in CA; too many cocky douche bags think there rig is better then everyone else...jeeps and most other vehicles are cool tho. haha

Lake City. right on I-75 just a little south of the Georgia state line. I did find myself in a 'pod" today on the main road through town with two other 5th Gen T4Rs and a really nice older one , I think it was a 3rd generation body, I don't know all the differences between model years, but it looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Almost waved.
