This is kind of off topic but.. My wife and I spend all of our free time in the western NC mountains where we have a 5th wheel camper permanently parked. We've been looking for something more permanent for a few years and have finally found it. We're buying a really nice little home near Sylva NC. I love everything about it but it has what many would consider a drawback. The driveway to it is gravel, about 400 feet long, and it's on about a 16 degree grade. The very first thing the realtor asked me when I called about this house is " Do you have an AWD vehicle?" I was very happy to tell her I do. And luckily, about a month ago we bought my wife an AWD 2013 Lexus RX350. After going up this hill a few times I'm very glad we both have vehicles that can climb it. Just for curiosity I drove the 4runner up it one time in 2wd just to see how it handled it. It went right up it with little to no wheel spin. But, I think if I were to stop on it, it would be difficult to get going again in 2wd, at least not without a good bit of wheel spin. And I wouldn't even attempt in 2wd it if there was any snow or ice on it. So, I've found another reason to be happy I own a 4Runner. And I think we're gonna love our new vacation home. Ironically, if I didn't have the runner or if we hadn't just bought the Lexus we wouldn't even have considered buying this home.
