I just can’t believe in my state they have it as “stationwagon” I’ve never seen something like that.

Same here in Michigan. Jeep wranglers are also classified as station wagons.

Isn't that cheaper than a truck? I'd take it.

It's a common DMV classification for any enclosed top passenger vehicle that's not a coupe (2D, CP), or a sedan (4D) that is registered as non-commercial. Station wagon (SW) also encompasses passenger vans, actual station wagons, mini vans, SUVs, etc. I don't know that all states code them that way but at least a few that I am familiar with do.

    Why does it matter?

Welcome from NC. Mine has always been classified as a station wagon. Unfortunately 4WD drives up your insurance rates.

Hmm.. Mine wears truck plates, but could also wear car plates. I wonder if my insurance company charges me extra since it's registered as a truck? I would guess that it's actually determined by the VIN. But, I'm sure they would jump on any reason to get more money.

Do your plates have the word "weighted" on them? In NC, they seem to be reserved for trucks like the F250 and above.

No, but there is a classification on them. Class "A"

I only have truck plates because I traded in the Tacoma.

Yeah I have the same feeling driving my 18 orp as I did in my dads OLDS vista cruiser man I loved lying down in back looking out the roof side window and his Kent cigarette smoke floating
Be glad your state listed your truck as a station wagon it’s a cheaper registration

I’ve always thought those old timey roof racks reminded me of my mom's Buick station wagon.

LEDs all around, otherwise bone stock.
Spent alot of my youth riding around in these things. All my friend's moms had em. And a group of us sat in the very back with no seat belts playing Tiger Handheld games and bullshitting about sports stats. Girls in middle seats. Moms up front smoking. Different times. But the 4runner outclasses any station wagon that's for sure.
