Hey y'all, just checking in and saying hi. I love my 4Runner, and never getting anything else hes my first car, and i fell in love.. But I have a question, hopefully someone can help me out? But I have a 99 and my heater isn't working and whenever I turn it on it makes a clicking noise... I'm not sure what to do and am no means a mechanic, but I wanna fix it. Any advice? on my problem or anything else? thank you so much

Does AC work? Is the engine up to operating temperature when you try heat?

How's air flow? (Don't think there's a cabin filter to get clogged in that model so if you don't get any air maybe the blower's gone.)

Where's the clicking noise coming from?

It’s tough to say, but the fan motor does sound like the culprit. Sometimes detritus falls into vents (especially the defrost vents) and works its way to the fan blades. The clicking may be the fan striking one of these foreign objects as it attempts to run. I also had a Gen3 and found the dash fairly easy to get into, but I was just installing a stereo…

Welcome from Wisconsin! Might be like icebear said, blower motors are cheap if that's it, I can not tell you what it's like to install one. Also check the blower motor resistor, maybe the plug melted down, if that's the case Dorman makes a plug replacement kit. Good luck.
