My 2018 4 Runner left front bumper cover by headlight keeps popping out. I purchased new and had an accident 2 years ago, I got hit in the front and rear. Body shop did a good job however, the front left bumper keeps popping out by headlight. It never did this until the accident. I’ve had it back to the body shop 5 times now and they’ve attempted numerous parts to repair this problem and I have the same problem again. They’ve used OEM and aftermarket parts and still the same problem.
From reading these posts, it looks like this an ongoing problem. Does anyone have any useful info on the repair for this irritating problem Toyota has? Thanks for your input Brad Bennett

The plastic "clips" that the bumper actually clips into have to be in a perfect position to hold the bumper properly, there are only so many directions the bumper can "stretch" into.

If the repairs have any of the alignments off, even a fraction of an inch, the plastic bumper might not be able to "stretch" and reach the clip so it constantly pops out.
Either that or the plastic "keepers" in the clip and on the bumper that clip together might not be meshing together. There is a male finger on the bumper and a female "clip" on the plastic clips under the headlight and on the fender. These are critical, where they are placed, and the fitment of the front end relies on these plastic clips being in the right position for the bumper to be able to clip in. If the core support is pushed back only a fraction of an inch, the headlight is pointing more downward towards the ground, the headlight bracket off a fraction, it could put the black plastic bumper clips in a position where the actual bumper cant clip in.
