Looking at a decent 2000 limited, can be had for 10k or so, 145k miles. "No rust". Asking prices seem to be high compared to KBB (which is supposed to be based on actual sales) for these, while the Tacos and Tundras seem to be in-line. Worth it? or hold out till more gasoline pain sets in.
Also what to look for that is specific to the gen3? I have a low-mileage gen4 V8 that I am keeping.

KBB doesn't take many things into account and should be ignored completely.

Your geographical market dictates what something is worth.

After that, features and benefits that you consider being worth something. Not sure what you're intending to do with this vehicle so it's hard to tell you "what to look for".

Unless you mean problem areas, then I'd just say inspect the frame thoroughly for rust.

Bob, You may have found this already, but definitely check out PhoRunner's video on Y0utube called "Toyota 4Runner Buyer's Guide: Common issues to look out for." He does a detailed rundown -- 33 minutes long -- of things to check on 3rd Gens. It's really excellent.

Go on cargurus and see what they are selling for. That should tell you if it is priced high or just right.

For older Toyota SUVs/trucks like Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, etc, they're worth what someone will pay. Market has always been strong for them but it's crazier now.

KBB has no clue of a car's value if over 10 years old. Especially Toyotas!
