    Greetings Fellow Toyota Enthusiasts

I purchased a 4Runner in 2020 with a rusted frame, my intention was to fix it but it sat for some time now, I recently purchased the frame replacement piece from Safe-t-cap in order to remedy the issue. (ART-220-L).

I don't intend of selling it I want to build it up, but I'm wondering if I should go with installing the fabricated piece or finding an intact frame and fixing it like that.

I found a frame for $1000 Canadian Buckaroos which I don't mind doing the swap myself with friends as I don't have any experience welding to install the piece i bought from safe-t-cap and I would have to outsource that project.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia Canada if any locals have suggestions for where to get the welding done would be a great help.

Welcome, a frame replacement is a lot of work, but doable and will be the only real fix. SafeTcaps are great for what they are (I’ve got some on my 1st gen Tacoma), but definitely a ticking clock. It’ll last plenty in light duty, but I’m not sure I’d want to DD for more than 3-5 years. Even though you cut out large parts of the rusted frame, there still needs to be enough solid metal to weld to.

    good luck!

Welcome from Wisconsin! Put the full frame in.... after prepping it for rust, you could get in every nook and cranny before you install it under the vehicle. Save or sell the pieces you bought, and drive on.
