Been looking for a used 4Runner for a few months and came across a 2018 TRD Off Road yesterday listed for about $37,000 with 35k miles. Really considering purchasing the vehicle, but obviously being a 4Rnoob decided I'd look more into price ranges and get other peoples' opinions before I pull the trigger. Thoughts? How was your experience purchasing your 4Runner? Were you also kind of hesitant before purchasing?

I wouldn’t pay that price for used. Prices are also Over inflate due to Covid. I’d wait for things to go back to normal before purchasing. I got a 2020 in January for 5k more

I was in a similar boat and considering going gently used. I've been looking for a while and just decided to buy a new TRD ORP. I just couldn't justify paying a few thousand less for something with 35,000 miles and another owner. For me, the few thousand extra dollars was worth it. My TRD ORP was $41,500 (before tax and tag) with a couple add ons after negotiation. I would imagine you could get a OR for less than that and not much more than what you are seeing for the 2018.

It's crazy right now but I bought my brand new 2020 TRD Off Road Premium in January for $40k. Things are so nuts it might sell for that price today idk but the market is just not normal like everything else.

I agree- if you have the funds, you should be able to get a new one for just $3-4k more. And you’d certainly get that extra money back down the road if/when you decide to trade/sell. You might even get slightly more, depending on the market at the time.

The market is settling down a bit, dealerships inventory is starting to grow. Check the blue book value.

+1 to what's been said. I was in the same boat, looking for a low mileage used 4runner. After some shopping, it made more sense to buy new. My '19 ORP (w/KDSS) was ~ $38.6K +TTL down from $42.6K MSRP.

The current market might not allow you to get the best deal right now. If you're looking to buy right away, you might have to take what you can get.

    Welcome to the forum!

Holly crap!! I was playing on eBay today and sorted 4runner by highest price first, now I know you can ask as much as you want and doesn't mean you'll get it but :eek:

Not sure where you’re at, but in my area, that’s a typical price. Still think a little high, but if they could negotiate, it wouldn't be a terrible deal IMO. All in all, the prices on these trucks really seem area dependent.

My 2018 was valued at 41k, 28k miles. ORP premium. So still worth the brand new price. In Utah it’s been difficult to get a 4R from what I understand. 2021 models are delayed by a few months. Maybe now that summer is over and the cold is setting in, they are easier to get.

That was a solid deal. I bought sometime ago and paid 1k more out otd, but less miles. I looked for 8mos and my deal was 1500-1800 under every other dealer inventoried TRD out there, unless I wanted to fly to Texas...which was not going to happen. You got a solid deal, solid ride...now go and enjoy

    Cheap stuff
Car pricing I think comes in the area. Cheapest ORP in my area in SoCal right now is $33,8 for a 2016 Trail with 67k. Sounds ridiculous but the next option is in Colorado for the same price and miles for a 2017. It really depends what's in the area and how far your willing to travel to buy and inspect a used car. In contrast I bought a 2015 Trail with KDSS for $25,5k with 90k miles in late February and I found it at a SoCal dealer.
