    I have 2021 4 Runner with 30k at this most recent service ( oil change and tires rotation) the dealership gave me a huge list of recommendations. I’m wondering what other owners recommend at 30k? Thanks
    They are telling me brake flush, steering flush, mass air flow cleaning and fuel induction service.

    Depending on how you use your 4runner, I would do a front and rear diff oil change. If a pavement queen you could probably wait til 60K. But just by age, I would change it now if it were me. Dealers just trying to make money off of you. In 40 years of owning Toyotas, I've never used those "needed" services.

    Those (other than fuel induction, MAF) aren't bad to do but might not be a good value.

    If it hasn't been touched before, I'd do the front differential, transfer case and rear differential, brake fluid.

    I did power steering and coolant too but that's a little above-and-beyond.

    So the dealership is so expensive and I’m not mechanically inclined. I contacted a local reputable transmission shop and they use Valvoline Max and Full synthetic gear line.for transmission , differential and transfer case. Do you need to use OEM fluids? I’ve seen YouTubers stating you should. I don’t want to wreak anything. Thanks again

    Valvoline gear oil of the correct viscosity is fine for front and rear differentials.

    The transfer case has a synchro that can be damaged by the incorrect oil, so buying the expensive transfer fluid from toyota is the only worry-free option.

    The transmission costs a ton of money to replace. It can be damaged by the wrong fluid. Toyota transmission fluid is not that expensive; so there is no need to use anything different.

    That said, I wouldn’t do any of these at your mileage; especially if you’re paying to have this done.

    Do not forget the drive shaft u-joint zerks and slip joint zerk.
    Very few vehicles on the road have grease zerks.
    Maybe your dealer technicians have never been shown how to properly grease a drive shaft on a 4runner. It is possible to damage the u-joint grease seals and overfill the slip joint with a powered grease gun. Most shops only have powered grease guns. A pistol type hand grease gun can easily do the job.
    Find a mechanic that knows how to lube a drive/propeller shaft.
    Note: front wheel drive vehicles (almost all cars on the road) do not have grease zerks.
