Hello fellows I'm new here please excuse me for the dumb question but I'm curious to know what's the highest mileage any one had gotten out of a 3.4 engine before needing headgaskets replaced? Thanks .

    I am at 287k.

I don't think head gaskets ever need replacing on these unless there is an overheating event.

I have seen these 3.4 engines with 1/2 million miles still running around.

310,000 and counting. They aren't Previas, which almost always need a HG by 300K. Pretty rare on 3rd gen 4runner

My neighbor's x-wife's v-8 tundra needed $4k cam-tensioners at 50,000 miles. Took it in and its actually $10k to fix. So these v6's are very realible, espicially if you change the oil every 3,500 miles.

But they weren't the reason for the rebuild

Rumor was a botched timing belt replacement led to a new top-end. And the trans was replaced.
