Just had the Eibach Pro Stage 2 installed. Tomorrow I get the Toyo AT3s 285/70/17 6 ply installed. Looking for some inflation advice. 90% highway 10% off road. What PSI would you recommend. Thank you in advance.

I'd start at 36psi and go from there.

I have the exact same setup, except for 10 ply, and I run mine at 38 psi cold.

    Cheers,

Awesome. Thank you. Just got them installed yesterday and had no clue what to inflate them to. One poster said 36. Like he said. I’ll start at 36 and adjust accordingly between 36 and 38. I absolutely love the Eibachs. The toyos are also performing well. Granted I have like 20 miles on them. I got to shave the wheel well a tad. Not a big deal. I love the setup

@morfdq what tire did you have before?
I’m looking to get the same Toyo AT3 eventually. How’s road noise compared to your previous set up? I currently have the stock Nitto terra and I like that they’re not too loud. My 4R is not primarily for commuting but I do some long driving on camping/ski/overland trips so I don’t want a tire that’s too loud. But I also want a decent off-roader as I do a good amount of dirt roads/off roading

Looks great! 36psi is where I start at, then chalk test after if needed. I even set my sl 285s at 36psi.

So do you run the same psi. in all four tires? I have used the chalk test method for 50+yrs and it has always worked well for me. Not just in my drivway, and contact patch is a plus.

You're not gonna get him to admit he is wrong, all he does is throw the same argument at you over and over again without providing any information to back up his claims... and occasionally he adds insults.

I do. But, only because that's what the door recommends.

I 100% agree that contact patch is important. I've never said it isn't.

I've never even said that the chalk test is completely invalid. I'm just providing a different way to find the appropriate tire pressure, which is based on load range, tire size, and GVWR.

Remember, the person I'm debating against is claiming that the chalk test is the only option, when it really isn't.

Ideal pressure based on door labels, manufacturers, and calculators offer a good place to start given all things are equal. People tend to be a little neurotic about shit they read on the internet and lose sight of the realities of real world things of which the chalk test helps offer. Can't balance what your eyes and your ass feels with just straight forward calculations.

Nano and bassguy provided valid points in between the insults but their debate turned out well in the end. It could have been left alone then.
