I have 285/75/17 Nitto trail grappler mud terrain tires. They are a good shoe. Quiet for being a mudd terrain.

Thank you everyone! I am currently looking for a tire that’s going to withstand all seasons.

Currently have the Nitto trail grappler’s but those are starting to cup.

We use the vehicle for fun but also as an everyday commuter. I am a soccer mom, and travel for tourneys also! Want something that isn’t extremely loud.

In that case may be you should look for tires with 3peak mountain snow flake stamp.

    images_4b4a480fa8583cae160711c37e80ed99e9a6defc.jpg

All 3 tires I posted on #4 has 3peak mountain snow flake rating.

    Like @kmeeg said; get a 3PMSF tire.

With no intention of hardcore off-road use, stick to SL load range. These will be lighter, and sometimes have softer rubber than LT tires, which will improve fuel economy and ride quality. Also, that SL version of some tires will have more siping than the LT versions which will improve snow traction.

I had Yokohama Geolander AT G015's on my previous 4runner and they were fantastic in snow, and great all around tires. For your situation, that's what I would get.

There are other good options as well. The Toyo Open Country AT3 is very popular, as is the Falken Wildpeak. I could probably name a few more.

I can second the Toyo AT3. Those were my prior 4Runner shoes

They're nice! I have a set of them in LT/C 285/70/17 and they've been a very good all-around tire as well.

Loving my KO2's. Had Terra grapplers previously and they were impossible to balance.

You may find the entirety(no pun intended) of this article worth the read. I did.

I asked Bergeson if the thinner, more flexible construction of a P/Euro-metric tire was less suitable for off-road use. “You’ll actually find that the more flexible tire deforms better over obstacles, which can help with grip and ride quality,” he says. It’s not true that plies used in those tires can lead to more punctures. While the strands used to construct the lighter tires aren’t quite as thick, they’re more densely woven, which works to prevent penetration equally well. The one area where an LT tire might be more resistant to punctures than the lighter option will come simply from increased thickness of the tread on the former.

This should be sticky-ied & be first point of reference on determining whether to go with P or LT.

If you drive over sharp rocks, buy LT tires.

    Otherwise get the lighter tires.

Can you be more definitive? Are they big rocks that take out the sidewall or smaller ones that in time work their way through the tread? The more we know, ya know.

I have Bf Goodrich KO 2's 285/70/17 excellent on/off-road, not loud and good in all weather conditions.

Big ones (rocks) that don't move when you drive over them.

    Not gravel.

    Just my opinion.

Did you take a mileage hit going from your stock tires to the KO2 285's?

I took a mileage hit going from stock Dueler HT's to stock size, P-Rated Grabber ATX to the tune of 1-1.5mpg.

I can't imagine going to 285's not resulting in a significant mileage hit.

All you 19-20mpg guys are lucky. Mine has never really averaged out to anything much more than 18 and typically hovers around 16. Now that I have a draggy roof rack, I’ve decided I get what I get.

It's all about cruising speed. The 4runner loves going 55-65 MPH. :turtleride:

The same with me, that's why I didn't post an average. Totally depends how I use the skinny pedal :curls:
