To wrap a vehicle yourself, it’s usually less than 1k in materials. To pay someone else, 3-5k.

Wheels, predator steps, cheap light bar, plastidip, Yakima basket, not worth the premium.

No one should ever pay that much for an SR5.

    It doesn't say.
However a 3" lift can be $3k easy.
A vynil wrap is about $4k.
    So, ~$35k for sr5 + $7k for those two.
The light bar is cali raised! (Sp)
I don't think it is that bad.
I rather build one but I can see it...

Dealer lifts are nothing but spacer lifts like rough country or ready lift 99.9% of the time.

    A 3" spacer?
I have heard of 1.5" but not 3".
    Not to say it isn't a 1.5" lift with a 1.5" spacer...
    Valid point.
I am not saying to buy one. I just thought to share it... fyi

They had this 4runner at a baseball game I went to. I took a pick and posted it in the 4runner live thread I think. It's cool looking but like others have said I'd rather build one myself.

yep. Neat vehicle. I used to do this kind of thing for my local dealer. Huge mark up equals full sticker price plus profit on additional add-ons. It’s win win for the dealer. Customers eat this stuff up because they can finance it and feel like they are getting a deal when the dealer discounted the price 3k because they won’t do that on a regular model. Customer still gets bent in the end.

Totally my opinion, Eugene is a college town and there is quite a bit of money that comes in with the kids from out of state. I'm sure some college kid will buy this with their parents money thinking they got a smoking deal on a "built" 4runner. Genius by the dealership it you ask me.

    That kit should be illegal!
    That cannot be safe.
How could a company put their name on that?
    Very sad!

It’s safe. I’ve installed dozens of them. Not what I want on my vehicle but it does allow for the look and fit 285’s.

It isn't safe for me & my family in an emergency movement @ high speed.
    I see a rollover.
Safety is my first priority with any suspension system.
This is a joke of an unusable lift if you ask me. What about the shocks or sway bars...

Not understanding your thoughts on safety with this one. What are your specific worries? It’s just a cheaper way to obtain lift. What the kit is definitely missing that it would need is UCA’s to get a perfect alignment. That spacer kit is like any other spacer kit out there.

I just have something against spacer kits in general.
I have never heard a good thing about them (except the cost).
I am not a physics expert. I just believe that if you lift a vehicle without the necessary pieces. You are putting excess wear on other parts of the suspension that a true lift takes into account.
I am not saying you need a stage 7 lift.
I just never trust the cheapest option available.
You get what you pay for. If I am driving with the family & I need to make an emergency maneuver. I don't want to even think that me saving a few dollars was a good answer if it causes an accident.
I would love proof (not anecdotal); that spacer kits are just as safe as a true lift or stock height.
Not trying to fight here. Just about safety first!

To me the proof is that whether you do a spacer lift or a expensive lift, it changes the exact same geometrics of the suspension components. Yes, the spacer lift does create some points for improvement but that’s the name of the game with any modification or lift kit. You continually chase the next thing that needs upgrading because of the last modification.

At the end of the day, 3” is 3” when considering center of gravity and drivability. You mentioned sway bars. No lift offers new/upgraded sway bars...

Safety is most important but a spacer lift does perfect for a person who just wants to cruise the the streets. It’s major mechanical shortfalls are off-road.

Being new to 4runners as well never having worked on suspension or having vinyl wrapped anything, I can see the value. Too rich for my blood however. I might have to look into vinyl wrapping if you can actually save yourself that much money

I mean that it doesn't include things like longer sway bar links, a new rear axle track bar (forgot name), upper or lower trailering arms... what height are these necessary?
I was under the impression that the T4R was about to its limit @ +3.5 inches.
I know you can build anything with money...

I have a spacer lift on my third gen. For how much I paid for the third gen I didn't wanna put a whole bunch of money into a lift kit. I opted for a rough country 3" lift. It's spacers up front an new coils in the rear. Kit came with extended shocks as well. It's not apples to apples but my Ford has a lift kit that cost about 10x what I paid for the rough country kit and I don't feel that a spacer lift is any less safe than a full blown suspension lift. I'm sure ride quality is sacrificed to some extent with a spacer lift vs. actual suspension lift but I didn't buy a 98 4runner for it's handling/ride quality.

What brand is your Ford lift?
I have a '04 F-250 but must keep factory due to plowing snow...

It's a Super Lift 8" kit. I've added shock hoops upfront running dual bilsteins.

Those are some long ass springs! Both front & rear. I have replaced both.
That had to take a full day to install!

Yes they are hahaha. I honestly wish it wasn't so tall but the lift was on it when I got it. I added the ladder bars and dual shock setup. The other day I forgot I had my airbags aired up and put a pretty sweet dent in the roof of it pulling into a parking garage. I parked in it 100 times and knew it was close but totally spaced I had left my airbags full after camping. It's ok though there's honestly not a straight panel on the ex. I beat on it pretty good. 20180512_180646.jpg

    I love the old excursions!
    They would cost $150k today.
Nice truck! They are expensive rigs to maintain. Great rig for a lot of fun also!
I cannot see an exhaust. Is it gas or diesel motor?

If you haven't already I highly suggest upgrading your side view mirrors to the 08-16 mirrors on your Ford. I picked some up of Craigslist and they are amazing

It's got a borla exhaust that's cut off right under the second row of seats. It's the 6.8 V10 with 125k on it. I wanted to get a diesel but only drive about 12 miles a day. Eventually I would like to swap a 12v Cummins into it.

Replying for sake of lift education, not argument.

No 4Runner kit comes with extended sway bar links that I know of. A new rear trac bar is not necessary for lifts under 3”. The difference in track is minimal (about 1/4”). Upper and lower trailing arms are for flex. The upgrade trailing arms are adjustable but you set them to factory length unless you have a crazy custom lift. Max lift before going to a drop bracket lift is about 3” due to cv axle angles and, the higher you go, the less down travel that is available. You want down travel.

All that extra stuff in the stage 7 icon kit is for off-road flex.
