    Comrades,
Good time of the day to y'all!

I have one question and need someones "professional" opinion, please.

So, I bought a 2019 4Runner SR5. I drive about 8-10K a year. I think I will be doing a bit more driving now since we are planning on getting a camper as well. I also plan to keep this vehicle for years to come. That being said, here is my question. I purchased a platinum warranty from Lexus (Toyota backed) for 10 years or 125K for $2,600. Is it something worth buying or do you think it is unessasary expense with this vehicle? I do understand that it is a very subjective question, however, please give your best opinion.

    Thank you all,
    KGBguy

PS I will add a few modifications to it as well. I am planning on getting a trailer, so I will probably put in a transmission cooler. I will be creating a separate thread for it.

From what I’ve heard, you can get it cheaper.

I bought the 100k mile warranty. Doubt I’ll ever need it but just in case.

The 100K was $1995. I thought if I'm already spending 2K, what is another $600.

    How old is your vehicle?

    I have a 19 pro.

There are guys on forums that work at dealers that can get the warranties half the price.

Look at auto trader and see all the runners with well over 300k miles. If the money isn’t a big deal to you then it’s a nice peace of mind. Most people will say it’s a waste

I didn't get one because these vehicles don't typically have the kind of problems that would make the warranty worthwhile.

That being said, things can and do happen from time to time.

If it makes you sleep better at night having a warranty, then keep it.

I've driven Tacomas/4runners for 20 years up to a minimum of 50k and maximum of 150k miles. I've had several and haven't had to put any money into them other than oil changes/plugs.

The chances of having $2500 in repairs in the first 125k miles is just so slim that I don't think it's necessary to get the extended warranties.

Sure, it COULD happen, but it probably won't. These trucks have a good track record and rolling the dice isn't as risky as it would be with something like an Audi or VW. And if you DONT buy the warranty, you still have a couple grand in your pocket for repairs.

But some folks like the peace of mind that comes with a warranty. If you're one of those people, it's just money. Buy it if you can afford it, in that case.
