The rattle only seems to happen when moving at slower speeds over bumps but stays quiet moving at higher speeds. Anyone else had a similar issue?

From what I’ve heard its a known annoyance issue on other Toyota models as well. Nothing mechanically wrong but more of an annoyance. The pain in the ass to fix is to tear off the headliner and install some spacers in the sunroof working bits to get rid of the noise, also expensive. The Car Care Nut on YouTube describes this Toyota noise issue in one of his videos, just can’t remember which one.

Unfortunately I don’t have a sunroof/moonroof on my rig so I can’t really comment from experience.

I had a similar issue with the roof tilted open on my 2018. Low speed, it would rattle when going over bumps in the road.

I had the dealership take a look and this what they did to resolve the rattle. Hopefully this will help you too.

here are the notes from my service summary, word for word:

test drove vehicle with sunroof in tilt up position and heard a ticking noise.
ticking noise is gone when sun roof is closed or in full open position.
applied pressure to sunroof while in tilt up position during test drive. tick noise did not change.
applied rubber conditioner to sun roof weather strip. ticking noise is still there.
removed left side sunroof garnish, ticking noise did not change.
removed right side sunroof garnish and ticking noise went away.
inspected right side sunroof garish and you can see signs of rubbing on the top of garnish.
applied sound dampening tape to top of right side sunroof garnish and reinstalled.
test drove vehicle and ticking noise is gone.
