Trying to figure out how to turn these lights off so I can sell my 2008 and get a newer 4Runner.

Recently the VSC Off, Trac/Skid Control, and ABS lights have been turning on consistently. It used to be random where the lights would sometimes turn on and sometimes would not. Now it happens whenever I let off the brake. The weird part is, ABS doesn’t always turn on.

I have 2 TPMS (tire pressure sensors) that need to be fixed, but from everything I’ve read they should not be affecting the VSC lights to turn on. I’ve done a zero point calibration with no luck and have a gas cap on order. I currently have LED blinkers installed with the blinkers hyper flashing but also will be fixing along with the gas cap.

    Any ideas would be helpful!

I have almost the exact same problem. The only variation is that I only have 1 TPMS that is bad, and my ABS light always turns on. The issue came on gradually, but now the lights go on as soon as I press the brake after startup. If I turn the car on and let it idle without pressing the brake, the lights don't come on. After pressing the brake, same scenario as OP: "VSC Off" flashes, Skid Control and ABS lights on solid. Stays that way the whole time until I turn the engine off. No perceived difference in driving experience though.

Anyone else have this experience and know what the fix is? (gas cap?)

I've got an '08 tundra crewman 4x4 5.7 V8 and drove this morning and things were fine, drove this afternoon and all these same lights came on. While searching around I've seen multiple different reasons.

I've already repaired the exhaust valve that got stuck open.

    So any other suggestions

If the lights are coming on there should be trouble codes stored to identify why. If you guys dont have a code reader take it to a local auto parts store like auto zone to have the codes read.

Agree with Yoda. Take it down to Autozone or similar, walk in, and borrow their scantool (its free). Then plug it into your vehicle in the parking lot. Then take the scantool back in and they will give you a printout (also free) of the error codes it found, along with explanations for each error code and possible remedy. It's a good place to start.

Last time this happened to me with similar light codes, turned out to be a faulty gas cap which wasn't sealing properly. I've now replaced my gas cap 3x on my 2008.

I took it to my auto parts store and since there's not CEL there's no codes.

I'm thinking it's either a speed sensor or abs sensor. Reason: lights turn off when car is cycled on and off... They turn back on when the truck passes 15mph

THis happened on my Corolla and all I did was replace the gas cap and that fixed it. Gas cap seals do go bad.

I had this happen to my 2008 , right when I was going to sell it. Had my mechanic check it as I could not get a code either. It was the battery, put in a new one, all was good. Sold!
