    HELLO YALL!

Im new to this forum and I would like to get some advice, tips, pros and cons of a 2008 4Runner.
I am looking of getting this, 2008 Toyota 4Runner .

I am not a mechanic so idk alot about cars. I checked the carfax, looks clean. The car looks well maintained for a 208K miles car. I am trading my 2019 infiniti qx50 for this since i wanted to go camping and some other stuff. Also wanted a lower monthly payments. from $500 to $200 is a big jump. (which is good)

Anyways, please comment everything you know about this car. Anything helps. even with "black 4runner is better than maroon." lol.

What are the Pros and Cons, tips, what else to do, etc.

    Thank you in advance! Cheers!

I looked at all the pictures, that is a daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn good looking truck. I wouldn't guess it has 208k on the clock. Very clean inside and out. No pictures of the frame though? That's always a sore-spot for any 4Runner. Inspect the frame very carefully. If it looks good and only has surface rust and/or minimal rust.......buy it.

Someone is gonna snap this truck up very soon.

Get it inspected by a mechanic, make sure the 4WD both high, low, center locker engage. It's nearly old enough to vote so anything can happen.

If you're taller, make sure you fit comfortably. (Sunroofs for me are a no-go in 4Runner land)

I love that color, you'll enjoy driving around the last 4Runner that had 4WD you can use on the pavement across the board.

At least around me though in Texas you can find a 4WD pre-facelift 5th gen (early-10's) model for 2-3 grand more with mid-100k miles so consider that too.

Second: I can't see any rust at all, or none to be concerned about. Buy that truck as fast as you can.

Welcome from Wisconsin! This 2008 is about as clean as they come, the frame looks great, the rest of the truck is very nice. You better buy this truck... or I will. Good luck with it. When you buy it, post again, thanx.

You plan to finance a 17 year-old vehicle? How expensive is this thing listed for?

Ah I see the link to the listing in the OP now. Clean car but damn, even the ad site says it's priced 41% higher than similar listings:

Correct, it is a standard SR5
Still clean paint, probably painted in the recent past. It would be hard to believe that is OEM paint and clear unless it was kept in a garage and waxed and sealed religiously at least once a year. Its very clean inside and out, AND under. It is a bit higher priced than a normal one because someone put some money into cleaning it, and keeping it clean over the years. Its not a typical 2008, that is in dire need of a paint job and likely more maintenance.

Heh Carfax shows CV axles were replaced in 2024. Must have paid $1k+ for OEM axles at the dealer. Toyota stopped painting CV axles after 2020, so these year-old CV axles have more rust than the rest of the vehicle.

This car would be more appropriate for someone looking for a survivor or collector 4th gen. If you aren't mechanically inclined and are just looking for a lower payment, this thing will be very costly to maintain in the same pristine condition. Budget $2k per year replacing worn out parts. Rear wheel bearings, steering rack, starter, alternator, A/C compressor... they will hit one after another. Not the fault of the car, it's just 17 years old with over 200k.
