2004 climate control lighting

Hey, I just noticed that the climate control buttons lighting are is working properly.
(2004 limited)
The arrows is light up, but the words / images are not.
Is that normal for this model? Only the arrows should be lighting?
I changed the bulbs (got the specific kit for $38), but still only the arrows are working.
By the way, the upper lcd screen is working fine, but not the buttons RESET / MODE.

 

There is a separate light just for the Reset/Mode area separate from the rest of the screen. If you didnt already replace it you can still find it by itself. As for the words lighting up, anecdotally my '05 words also don't light up that I remember. Maybe you turning it on in the daytime matters...? Like the light sensor is keeping it off? Just a thought.

 

To be honest, I took the car to car wash and once the guys were cleaning inside, they touched the gauges dimmer and took it all the way down to zero.
