Hi this is my first post! I have just bought a 86 4runner and was trying to fold the rear seat forward so I can lay the back of the seat down but I am not able to figure out how in to do that. I see the latches for the backrest but I don't know how the bottom of the seat is supposed to release. Can somone help me out here?? Am I just not seeing a latch or something??

There is a release pull in the middle of each seat, it gets trapped under the seat sometimes. Once you find it just give it a yank. The headrests will need to come off in order to lay the rear seats flat.

You can try to use a plastic coat hanger to fish around in the butt crack to see if you can hook the hand pull. This used to happen a lot with my 60 series.

Well I couldn't get it at all I finally had to remove both parts of the seats to get it out from under there. Thanks for letting me know for sure how to do it!
