Found a nice wheel on Discount Tire which shows it fits a 4R with 265/70 tires and gives two offsets. 0 and +18. Which one would give better clearance with the 265/70 tires? Haven't read about anyone using a +18 but lots with the 0 offset.

The +0 offset still sits slightly inside the fenderwell, but is 3/4" more aggressive offset than the +18. That's why it's so popular, gives it a more aggressive look than stock without sticking out past the fender and slinging stuff up the side of the truck. Either offset would work ok though! If you get too wide of a tire you'll have problems with rubbing the UCA with +18 but with 265 you don't have to worry about that. My opinion, go +0.

Thanks for the good advice. I'm leaning toward the 0 offset you recommend. The +18 is only 3mm more than the stock OR wheel and moves the tire only about 0.12" inboard but the one inch width increase of the new wheel would add another 0.2 inch for a total of 0.32" inboard. Seem like people have put 285/70 tires on the stock OR wheel which would add 0.20 inboard since the measuring rim for the 285 is an 8.5" wide wheel compared to the 7.5" OR wheel. So how much clearance does the stock OR have to the UCA? I had a deposit on a Limited but changed to an ORP. I liked the stuff that the Limited came with but didn't care for the looks.

Not sure about with the stock OR wheel, but I've got 17x8.5 +0 and 285's and have a good 1.25"-1.5" between the tire and UCA.

Thank you for taking the trouble of checking and getting a measurement!

No problem! If you have any questions I'll try to help you out. I've sold wheels and tires for a living for the past 20+ years lol.

OK so If I go with the 0 offset, would the 4R need an alignment vs the +18? Thanks!

No, the only thing that will change your alignment is suspension modification. Nothing to do with the tires or wheels.

I hope this post is ok here, I’ve looked around and haven’t found much info. I am switching over from a Tacoma with 17x9 SEMA wheels with 0 offset with 265/70/17 Wildpeaks. The wheels and tires are basically brand new, and I would love to put them on the new 4R. Would this setup fit with no rubbing without a lift?

From what I've read, the Wildpeaks are on the wide side compared to other tires of the same size so the odds of rubbing goes up with those tires.

@afret is right. I have a 265/70r17 wildpeak at3w right here measuring 9" tread width compared to this Nitto ridge grappler measuring 8.5". I still wouldn't expect any issues. I don't remember having to trim any on new 4Runners running 265's and +0 offset. Worse case, a full turn could rub front inner fender slightly. Can take a dremel and shave a little off if need be. I had to do that do mine on 285's and 3" lift. Just holler at me if any rubbing and I can help you with what to do, but you should be fine.
Other thing to consider is TPMS. The 2020+ 4Runner uses a different sensor than older models. Do you know what year Tacoma they're off of?

What are your thoughts on a slightly taller but skinnier tire and effects on chances of rubbing? The Cooper AT3 265/70 is 31.4" tall (seems like most are 31.7") and the tread is 8.6" wide. The AT3 255/75 is 32" tall but the tread is only 7.8" wide. I wonder if it decreases the odds of rubbing?

It would probably end up being a wash as far as clearance. IMO I'd stick with the 265/70r17. Much more common size and if you're not lifting it, the front fender is plenty full (as far as height) with the 265/70r17 already.

Thanks for your reply! They are off a ‘18 Tacoma and they just barely rubbed when slowly turning sharp on an uneven road or into my driveway. I was planning on just having the sensors swapped from the stock tires to the wild peaks if I go that route. That’s what the tire dealer did when I had them put on my Tacoma. I had the sensors swapped back into the old Tacoma wheels and tires so there’s not any on the wildpeaks at the moment.

Hey, I know this thread is old; but wondering if you had any advice for me. I have a stock 2019 sr5 premium; the wheels/tires that came stock have a +15mm offset and are 265’s. I’m considering getting new wheels that are 17x8.5 +7mm. Can I get 275’s without rubbing or any mods or should I stick with 265’s?

You may need to do front fender trim/mod with +7mm because the Pro, with +4mm offset & 265s is trimmed at port. It's an easy job so it should hold you back. Then you should be able to run the +7mm with 275s with no issue.
