Exiting the 4 lane in Athens, OH. My wife and I are at the Ohio University Bobcats vs. WVU Mountaineers football game.

I was able to coax 24.9 MPG out of her.

We have 14,100 miles on her now. I absolutely love the vehicle!

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Sure, that's impressive. I've done that too. But the only thing that matters is the TANK Average MPG.

...when you hit 24.9 MPG for the tank average, then we'll make you President of this Forum.

Impressive. Regular gas ? We hit 22 mpg in our GX460 on a road trip and I thought that was impressive.

you’ve only been driving for nine minutes. That’s not a accurate average

i recently did a midnight run from north of Boston to NY in my '24 ORP with a cargo box on top.... vast majority of the trip was doing 75-80mph. Avg MPG (after refill) was 20.9, started with a full tank of Sunoco 93 and pulled in the driveway with about 1/8th of a tank left. I was very pleasantly surprised. If I was doing the speed limit and didn't have the cargo box on top, I would guess that I would have been in the 23-24mpg range. I think 93 vs 87 octane really made a difference.

yeah 21 is easy to get with some moderation. My gets 20-21 all day long on 87 but I try to keep my speed under 75mph.

    I can now one-up this!

Steady-state cruising at 45-50 MPH with minimal traffic lights and relatively even (but favorable) elevation change and boom, just for a moment it felt like a RAV4.

Total for the 30 minute drive came out to computer-estimated 25.7 MPG but of course my fuel economy at the pump will probably come out to 19-21 MPG depending on how the rest of my driving goes this week. (and judging from past performance)

My record for a longer distance was 24.5 MPG over ~100 miles (calculated) but I haven’t broken 22 MPG for fill-ups larger than a half-tank.

with 5 speeds 22mpg is probably the upper limit of what these things can do at proper freeway speeds on a longer trip. One of the reasons car makers are going to 8-10 speed gearboxes is to get taller top gears for a little lower rpm at cruising speeds to try to hit higher mpg numbers.

Then again when Toyota originally created the 4Runner, BOF SUVs were not yet the favorite of Bay Area, Denver, NoVa, etc areas' commuters.

On a 3500 mile trip last year I ran tank after tank of the highest octane at the pumps. It made zero difference in power or mpg. On trips I average 19.?? with a little extra weight and a Gobi on 265 BFG AT.
I guess my tires and the rack rob me of at least 2 mpg.

I was able to coax 19.8 - 20.3 on a recent 1100 mile round trip to NC and back. 3 adults, 9yr old and about 300-350 lbs of gear in the back on Falken WP AT3 285/70/17 SL at 36 psi hot. I was pretty happy with that.

Great numbers, but then again, if I drive down hills with very little acceleration I can average even better numbers. You've only been driving for 9 mins....I bet if you average it out for longer periods, that number will go down so not really real world numbers for most.

I've come close, I think it was 24.2mpg. I finished a 435 mile road trip with 65 mi DTE still showing.

Edit: I found the calculation. I'm weird and I always screenshot these.
