Roof rack for 5th gen TOR

What are the best options, best manufactured roof rack system that attach to the roof edge bars?

 

Definitely the best question to start off. To follow up, depending on your answer, what is your goal? Opinions will flow heavily, and quickly. There is everything from the OG, Prinsu, to the newest high quality, Victory, I’m a roof rack fiend an will give my .02¢ once you are ready.

 

Something to attach to the roof rails. Preferably 3/4 length. I like the look and function of the Gobi, but I don't want to remove my rails. Thanks.

 

Yakima or Thule for a cargo basket. Some companies are making replacement crossbars that use the factory rails

New 4R owner here and NEW to 4runners.com community. Looking for the same thing. We camp a lot. Three boys. Two teenagers and one 9 year old that wants to be a teenager. We sold our 2006 pilot and picked up a 2013 4R SR5 4x4 (it has a sunroof/moonroof), so we lost a little cargo space,,,but picked up a lot more capability. Needless to say, we are loaded down. Need some roof support/roof rack for carrying basecamp supplies like stoves, tents, etc. Interior load out will be for the soft stuff like clothes, blankets, luggage, etc. Rear hitch for carrying the cooler.

We would like something that doesn't cover the sunroof/moonroof. links and suggestions are welcomed. Also questions. Trying to stay below $800. WOuld by used too.

 

Just purchased prinsu 7/8 rack and I love it so far. Simple design, easy to put together and solid.

We have a sunroof; however being 6'4 I need the biggest sleeping quarters possible.
I have homework to do in order to find out if we need a full length rack due to my stature.
Also, our decision depends upon our dog. While he doesn't sleep in our bed a GSD wants to be in the tent with you to keep you safe.

Odd question.
Anyone have an ARB 2500 attached to a 3/4 length rack? Wondering if it would look silly.

I like this one. It will be high enough for the rear antenna, but will it allow the sun roof/moon roof to open?

 

not high, jacking, we all are looking for the right rack for the right truck. I am hoping to get all the info to buy the right one for us.

 

Well

The wife and I decided on the Victory 4x4 rack that is not the whole length. Apparently, after reading about the sun roof extraction, she came upon a head on collision and they pulled the driver of a Durango out the sun roof. A CRv hit the Durango at about 45 mph. She was the 2nd person on scene. She stayed with the teenage driver who was stuck until crews arrived.

I did explain extraction crews would cut the rack of it was over the sun roof etc etc etc.
