I just went to Walmart to get my news Cooper Discoverer swapped onto my SCS Ray 10s, and ater an hour of waiting they declined to service me because they don't have the technology to swap out beadlock wheels.

I was a little caught of guard because I didn't know this was a thing. Were they just being lazy, or is this a common issue people have run into? I've seen videos of people changing them no sweat.

That's weird. They're not even real beadlock wheels, so I don't know why they'd be different than any other tire as far as mounting goes.

I ran into this the other day. The tire machines run along the lip of the wheel. The mock lock bolts get in the way of the machine running along the lip. The guy at discount tire broke 2 bolts on my wheels. He fixed them and I couldn't even tell it happened. I was watching him and asked why he was messing with the bolts. He told me what happened and said it's a pain in the ass to deal with mock locks but if you know what your doing it can be done.

Sorry just looked at the Ray 10s. It looks like those bolts are flush with lip of the wheel. So it prolly wouldn't be the same issue I had.

Bought my Cooper Discoverer's through Walmart so it was free tire/wheel swapping. Was going to then get it realigned somewhere else.

They must have mistaken them for real beadlocks wheel- most tire shops will not touch real beadlocks.

Are real bead lock wheels US DOT approved for on road use?

Most are not DOT approved; but even the few that are, tire stores usually won’t touch for liability reasons. They’re also one of those things I’ll only do myself anyways, because I know I’ll take my time and do it right.

Just for FYI, also note that just because they’re not DOT approved, doesn’t mean they’re illegal to use on road. (Though could potentially be held against you if they happened to fail and cause an accident or property damage).
