Yeah I will keep my Trail and the thousands of dollars I saved buying it over the appearance package.

@WallyT4R my father just bought a SR5 premium for $40k. I got my Pro 2 months earlier for $44k. I regret nothing for paying $4k additional for my appearance package. Would I have paid $10k more? No, but it seems the absurd markups are gone. Also, did my dad get hosed on his SR5... Sadly it seems most likely.

I don't have any issue with anyone getting a Pro if they want one. But I do find it odd when Pro owners tear out the expensive suspension that they paid for and replace it with something else. One thing that Pro owners really have going for them is resale value. Hard to argue with that.

If I'm being frank, I think the TRD Off-roads are a waste of money as well. A few thousand bucks for a rear diff locker and a multi-terrain feature? No thanks. I can use my A-trac.

Your dad did pay a premium for the SR5P......but some markets charge that much. You have to be willing to travel to get a better price. Some people don't want to go through that pain in the ass and I can understand that. They were charging $40k in my market for an SR5P and after traveling 6 hours away, I got mine for $33k.

Wow he definitely paid a serious premium. Now granted this was 2016 when I bought my Trail but they have not gone up by thousands...I bought mine for $35,015 out the door, tax, tag, title, everything

I have a Tacoma Off-Road that I built to resemble a Pro. Tires, Suspension, Skid Pate, Leather Seats & Grill. I decided to just buy a Pro 4-Runner for my wife and not modify anything. I would just buy a Pro if I had to do it all over again with my Tacoma. Everyone has a different take on if and why they should buy certain trim packages. I myself love my wife's 4-Runner Pro just the way it is!

I have always said, if you buy a PRO don't modify it. If you are going to mod it, buy one of the other models. Makes no sense to pay for things twice

Help......I currently drive a 2018 SR5 4wd with 14k miles...it has all I care for in options, full hood film paint protection, running boards.....and the sliding cargo deck that provides a level area from front seat to tailgate. The classic silver is my favorite color. I've seen a new 2019 TRD in Barcelona red with none of the options listed above at a dealer MSRP 39k, and some change, close to 40k....that they are slashing thru on their website......

Questions....would a normal person consider trading for the better 4wd?

How do you folks see a trade scenario shape up in terms of numbers?

My ride would easily bring very good trade rating.
