    Just purchased a silver 2017 4Runner SR5. Already put on a couple things;
    Bug deflector
    TRD PRO grill
    more to come later

    I'm having an issue where there is a whistle coming from the air intake plenum "surge box" when I hit around 2000-2500 RPM in any gear and in park/neutral. Took it to the Toyota dealership around here and they gave me the oldest tech possible that couldn't hear the noise (Everyone else hears it). The person I talked to on the phone there said she never heard of that kind of issue. Just want to resolve it.

    Has anyone heard of this and know how to resolve this and
    could anyone direct me to the correct thread for this?

    After the throttle body
    On eBay I found it also called an upper air intake manifold.
    Sits right on top of the engine.
    Part number: 17109-31181
    Some people have said it could be a crack in the plastic but I would've thought the would turn on the check engine light.
    I have gone around it with carb cleaner to see if it would change RPMs to find a leak and nothing has done the trick.

    Great I will try this! Another issue is its on the underside of it I believe if it is leaking.
    Apologies for the confusion on the part.

    Should be able to narrow it down fairly well. If it's under, you may need to pull it, inspect and install with new gasket.

    Awesome! Thank you for the input!
    Is there only one gasket like this one or another metal one under it?

    Not sure about the yota, but a upper intake kit should have everything needed and only costs a little more then a single gasket.

    Did previous owner install a throttle body spacer? That could be your noise maker
