Absolutely! That’s where Toyota is putting a lot of their R&D money according to the few articles I have read on the subject. I have a co-worker that believes Toyota is going to introduce diesels with I think is BS. Toyota is one of the best if not best/advanced Hybrid manufactures. Look all the new Tundra...seems to be a Hybrid version. A 5.7 Tundra getting 22mpg or a 4.0 4Runner getting 24 mpg...I would be in in a heartbeat.

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
Hybrid, sure EV...no I don't think we are there just yet. Still takes too long to charge and the ranges are still too small and a few other things that need to be ironed out more than they are now. Although the instant torque from electric motors is kinda intoxicating. Besides Toyota isn't exactly known for leading with cutting edge tech, they like tried and true technology and that's precisely why I keep buying them.

Of course, fixing the grid is far more important than supplying an EV fleet. But that requires a right that is willing to admit there's an energy problem and a left that's willing to admit the solution is complex, and a polity that reads and is educated and has conversation and thinks critically*.

Maybe more important as well is finding a way to get solar/wind** and batteries*** into homes to help normalize grid stress. I'm all for carbon taxing, but some solutions aren't really solutions. Maybe a better car would be LNG/CNG, and we have this in abundance, but not sure why this technology isn't moving forward. And fuel cells, of course, but not sure if that's a feasible technology after all.

    *so, we're basically f***ed
    **when useful
***if we can ever figure out batteries that are safe to dispose

A great marketing segment. Like when the Tundra towed the shuttle. I bet I could get a Honda Fit to tow a train if I geared it properly.

Should be interesting to see what happens 50 years from now when there's millions of spent batteries accumulating.

I'm sure having 4 motors on each wheel and shit ton of torque doesn't hurt either.
